Drahsid Yeah! me too. I still have this game on an old N64 console I just don't have those game-saver things that connect to the controllers to save your game. They are hard to find this days. I love this game!!!!

By far my favorite game ever. Mostly due to the fond memories of playing this with my Mom and Dad after school growing up.

It's a damn shame no one never continued this series in this style but with completely new levels. Legends/Dark Legacy were easily the best games in the whole series. That stark shift in direction, tone and eventually pre-order/DLC culture really killed the series. It'd be awesome to have them go back to these kinds of Gauntlet games.

Nail on the head. Two fantastic games that the franchise has yet to match in quality. So sad, because this is an ip that could easily be expanded upon in this style.

Every now and then I'll come back to this soundtrack to remember the good old days of simply being children and not having anything to worry about, and those good old friends who aren't around anymore. Great times.

Played this at my friends’ houses growing up but never owned a 64 myself. Just found it at one of my local shops and my roommate has a 64 so I bought it and have have been grinding levels after work. Such a blast!

i agree i beat this game at least 58 times and i still love it but it was thrown away by my father in 2007 because he says i hate it for the graphics ( not true ) and because it wasn't my number 1 played game and because it's an old game

For some reason, hearing the arcade music remade through the N64s sound hardware actually improves it in my opinion. What may have been a hardware limitation ultimately gave these songs a more epic and serious tone.

Castle Armory might take the cake here for the best track. Courtyard is close...Spire is close...Chimera is close but really that is just a remix of Courtyard. Then all of the Battle tracks kick ass. man what a soundtrack.

I really like the Castle Treasury theme. To me, it perfectly captures the feel of, "I'm stumped by this puzzle of a level, and have been running around for a couple hours now looking for the next switch dangit!"

This game had a fucking wicked soundtrack. I remember playing this with my brother and sister when we were just kids; it was fun as hell juking Death into a corner and pumping our speed stat to see who could race to Sumner the fastest. Ah, innocent days long gone.

I still have this on n64. But due to my memory card not working you cab't save any files. Yesterday I played the entire game in one setting. Took me 9 hrs! Childhood memories! I love the ps2 Dark Legacy. But this music was the best!

video games peaked shortly after these kinds of games, and then took a nosedive when i was in highschool. now i think people play them because they dont know what else to do with themselves. now indi games are where it's at. those developers are the ones who "get it"

This is probably my second favorite game to play on the N64 aside from Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Even though I loved Gauntlet Dark Legacy better (same levels, more levels added to it, more characters, harder bosses, etc.), it was still epic. And who can forget the soundtrack! I think the Valkyrie's Castle levels had the best music!

I never got the chance to play Dark Legacy but i agree the Valkyrie's Castle levels had the best music though if we would talk about levels, home, and characters i'd say the Wizards are the best characters, the best home is the Archer's Forest or the Valkyrie's Castle, the levels would go to Archer's Forest.

Stay in one stage by a generator and just kill the enemies as they come out. That's how I do it now, but I did it the hard way then and played til I came to a part I died a lot, then went back and leveled more til I could get through.
