Hello Robert. Did you add veneer also into this black case? Or is just painted black on MDF? Thanks.

@arcorob 3 ай бұрын
I did do veneer. This case was a nightmare. My intent was spray with enamel and clear. No good. Then tried other methods and paint reacted. So then I said "Hey, I have painted cars, use base/clear". First shot was horrid because the clearcoat ran on both sides..did the razor blade trick on the runs and then cut/buff. No good. One more try. Sanded all down, base,clearcoat...FINISHED no cut and buff needed - 3 months of hell. For a few hundred bucks could have ordered one from the same place as the faceplate 🙂

Hello Robert! I bought my marantz 2220 b new in 1976. I enjoyed your video very much . My marantz stopped working a couple of years ago. When i push the on button , unit used to make a relay click, and power up. No click sound or power up. I haven't opened the unit up to check. Probably a fuse opened due to a power supply issue? What do you think? 42:45
@arcorob
@arcorob 3 ай бұрын
Okay - all of this is said with MAYBE. If it LIGHTS up but no relay click, its likely to be the output transistors on the power amp board..BUT, if you get no power at all, its a fuse (at least initially) There are actually 3. One in the back which is the main that protects from AC surge. Thats the twist off cap. But two are inside. Take off the cover. Look on the front right side and there are two fuses. Inspect all 3. If you replace one (because its bad or more than one) then do so (not plugged in). Then, no speaker connections, no input, etc. Power it up. If it lights up, thats good and listen for relay. But be caresful because if there is a short, those fuses will pop again.
@arcorob
@arcorob 3 ай бұрын
Also, in addition to my other reply...Those of us taht do this alot use whats known as a dim bulb tester ...If there is a short the bulb lights up and stays lit and give you a chance to shut the unit off without further damage. If it doenst light up, you are good. www.ebay.com/itm/126258633900?hash=item1d6599dcac:g:R4YAAOSwyt9j8Eme&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4AMTmchnMQcJFN4XBiAdOVCp8BL7TikiqS61Bfhu6A2HUDMRP1TjMHi8nhntxrtXWz16l7ylhPYNvr0v7R%2FDIOv4zWcoZRmCpSayiihTMEiyAHRFWwXZrJNr8tQgp7DEz2PlRLDxS3XRd4tktw4OXe85jm2%2FicyIbXgaNLyD0BrkGy1mt%2BLvfdxlhyCdiOHtv5fLNk8V3RU3lqMBHb%2FwnIToEHb7krxpudeqJqofju94fOSI13GJG6Z9PRbChLG8M89tK6N%2BExa9fSmXNCkf8fdixS3Dma77hFUloup5LHX3%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_DGms6rYw

First attempt was using the Duak Turntable motor (EDS 500) but not enough torque. Could stop it easily - found this motor on Amazon and it is awesome, doesnt stop with heavy pressure. www.amazon.com/dp/B07YBXYKHH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 My next video will detail it better and will show how I add the vaccum and wand. So total cost will be will be slightly under $200 BUT ...similar could have cost me $499.

When the oil collects on the screen, Wouldn't it restrict the air?
@arcorob
@arcorob Жыл бұрын
You would have to have a HUGE amount of oil to block the flow. Remember, this is oil vapor. As it goes from vapor to liquid, gravity pulls it down into the can. Just keep it clean but better than pushing it BACK into the intake to be burning in the combustion chambers (just picture over time how much is going to just settle as gunk in your intake.

Hang on a minute, he sprays the fluid, he scrubs the record then he dries the record. What exactly does this record cleaning machine do? apart from rotate the record and make a noise. The whole point of the vacuum is to dry the record. A well designed record cleaning machine protects the label from getting wet, squirts the fluid, scrubs the record, changes direction and sucks the crap off. Oh! and the platter should not wobble like a jelly.
@arcorob
@arcorob Жыл бұрын
Dont think you paid attention. spray and initial scrub to loosen. Then the VPI wand and vacuum has small bristles that scoop what was loosened and vacuumed away and dries. Plus at no time have my labels been damaged. Wobble ? really ? Really ? Should I set the azimuth too ? Its cleaning not playing.
