Chicken stock tends to be made from bony parts, whereas chicken broth is made from meat. Since we're using all the bones of the chicken we thought stock was appropriate but leaving the meat on, you could consider it broth as well.

My Pressure King Pro pressure cooker was faulty so I bought the Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer 2 years ago and loved it but I wanted a separate air fryer as well so I bought this a year ago and it's great,I now have the Instant Vortex Plus VersaZone 8.5L as well,I use the two air fryers every day and only bring out the Instant pot if we have visitors or I need to pressure cook,my regular oven is now a storage cupboard for my air fryer recipes and my toaster is in the shed as the toast from an air fryer is so much better,and as you said they are also great for baking scones cakes etc, the rack is a crisper tray,great review ladies,I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do,I used to watch your videos regularly but somehow I haven't been getting the recommendations for them so I'll need to catch up

I just bought one and notice it's significantly harder to turn the lid than on my previous pressure cookers. I've checked and re-seated my silicone gasket multiple times but it still feels like slightly more resistance than I'm used to. Is that normal? Maybe because none of my prior pressure cookers had handles for the inner pot, so it was free to rotate internally while rotating the lid so basically generated no resistance, but the inner pot on the pro plus can't rotate due to the handles so when rotating the lid the gasket must slide over the inner pot? I've seen some advice to lubricate the silicon seal with vegetable oil but I'm concerned it might react and make it expand over time or leave a sticky residue. The seal is a little too good - even removing the lid after cooking, the inner pot almost comes up with the lid lol.
@PressureCookingToday
@PressureCookingToday 8 күн бұрын
I've had the same model and one lid was tighter than the other. It didn't seem to affect that function of the pressure cooker, but I did notice a difference. If you're having trouble getting it to close, then I'd reach out to Instant Pot for a new lid or replacement unit. 1-800-828-7280
@LMF5000
@LMF5000 8 күн бұрын
@@PressureCookingToday thanks, it's closing ok (and getting a little looser after 5 pressure cycles), just the opening is still a tad tricky because the lid sticks to the inner pot making it hard to twist open. I have another question. There's a little steel nub sticking out of the lid, between the float valve and the anti-block shield. It looks kind of like the tip of an old mercury thermometer. No other instant pot model has it, and it's drawn but not labelled on the instruction book. Any idea what it is? I'm thinking maybe an emergency pressure release?
@PressureCookingToday
@PressureCookingToday 7 күн бұрын
They all have the steel nub, you've probably just not noticed it before. If you look at this lid picture of the IP Gourmet www.pressurecookingtoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Pressure_Cooking_Today_Instant_Pot_Duo_Gourmet_Review_IMG_0013_1.jpg you'll see the steel nub on the inside of the pot. When you push on it, it pushes the other end to the outside. It's a safety feature.
@LMF5000
@LMF5000 6 күн бұрын
@@PressureCookingToday Yep, they all have that nub you pointed out (which mechanically stops you from opening the lid when it's under pressure, and stops the float valve from moving to seal if the lid is not fully locked), but I'm talking about the other nub that's unique to the pro plus. You can see it in your video at 3:41 between her thumb and index finger - it's the nub just north of the two valves, surrounded by the dark grey silicone gasket. I spoke to InstantPot UK Support, and they told me it's a temperature sensor that the cooker uses to optimise the internal conditions. However they wouldn't disclose how it communicates to the main body. I'm hoping someone does a teardown at some point because I'm thinking it would have to be wireless given that there are no evident electrical contacts in the lid.

I recently purchased this exact same air fryer, and while I'm happy with its overall performance for cooking, the basket design is questionable when it comes to the window. After only a few uses, I noticed condensation forming on the inside of the window. I emailed instant about this, and they're sending me a new unit under warranty. I decided to partially disassemble the basket, and the way this thing is sealed does not give me a lot of confidence. After washing the basket in the sink before I disassembled it, the inside of the window was loaded with water drops. Maybe I got a one off manufacturing flaw, but I'm thinking more like this is a design issue. I'll be curious to see if the replacement basket I'm getting has the same type of problem.

I wonder if someone can help me. I have just bought am Instant Pot Pro and it is great. The problem is that I am struggling to dispose of the liquid remaining in the pot after cooking. I don't want to pour it down the drain because I don't want the excess fat to accumulate in the pipe but, as I use it every day, there is far too much liquid to store in the fridge. Any advice?

Glad you're enjoying your Pro. Most of our recipes use the cooking liquid to create a sauce so we don't often have that problem. But when we do, we save a milk container with a lid and use a funnel to pour it into that to dispose of.

@PressureCookingToday

People have been happier with the slow cook function on the newer models like the Pro. The biggest complaint is that it can take several hours in the preheating phase to get to temperature. If you want it to get to temperature faster, you can use the saute function and then switch it to slow cook. My good friend has a great post on using the sous vide function www.paintthekitchenred.com/perfect-instant-pot-chicken-breast-using-sous-vide/

So like everyone else I use a Microwave like this. Put something in. Set on BLAST for 1 minute. Remove and stick my finger in to see if it is hot. So for me my Microwave needs 1 Setting... just one. BUT... If I get an instapot will I use any of the other buttons? It seems like what you did here was the equivalent of how I use my microwave... plus the 7 minute cool down. What do the other buttons do? Is there a Rice setting. You know like put in the rice and press the rice button then just forget about it. Or do I have to know how long to cook everything then release the steam at a certain time? Also there are so many models of Instapot. Do they all cook at the same speed. Is the 3 qt just as fast as the 6 qt? I need something small because my counterspace is so small. What say you... you seem to know your stuff. Thx
@PressureCookingToday
@PressureCookingToday 26 күн бұрын
Yes, it's like the buttons you don't use on a microwave. We write our recipes so they work with any brand or model. If your model has a rice button, you can use it instead, but it generally takes longer to cook. Some models cook at a higher wattage, but for most things you'll cook you won't notice a difference in cook time, so the 3 quart will be just as fast as the 6 quart.

We have a small household and I have an Omni airfryer oven (only because our oven died during COVID) as well as the regular Vortex airfryer which I use at least 4 times a week. There is nothing better, by the way, for reheating leftovers. As intrigued as I am with the new dual model, its just too big for my small kitchen. My Omni/oven is currently in storage for emergency use. I found it confusing to have to remember when to install or remove the big metal tray depending on what cooking method I was using. Also had to have one of the racks replaced because it would fall out if I pulled it out even slightly to remove food. To their credit, Instant replaced it quickly with no hassle.They do stand behind their products.

Peace be with you! Thank you for this product review. From my experiences with Air Fryers, I'm currently using 2 - 8qt Basket Style Air Fryers and formerly owned an Air Fryer Oven, All are not suitable for my needs. The baskets in my 8qt Air Flyers are just approx. 10 inches square. Their max temp is only 400 degrees. I only purchase 2lb bags of French Fries, Chicken Nuggets etc. They're been use for our ministry at church. We have to prepare foods quickly. I've found that an Air Fryer Basket when completely full does not evenly cook its food. Usually, I try to go no more than 2 - layers of food deep. Additionally, some foods require temperatures greater than 400 degrees. There's a product available, Typhur Dome, air flyer which features a wide Tray, as opposed to a Deep Basket, can reach temperature of 450 degrees and offers Self-Cleaning. I have not purchased it because it is pricey however, again for my purchases, the Typhur Dome might be the better option.
