Im from Brooklyn NY at 50 years old i sold my house in Brooklyn that i brought in 1990 I took my pension from the new York city sanitation department and retired to Colombia. Its absolutely 1000% a better life as a human being. My advice to this kid making these videos is make your money in nrw York city and when you get old retire to Colombia. Dont get married in the USA or start a family it will ruin you. Your better off starting a family in Colombia where woman actually respect men

For people saying they want to move here please look into the way you’re affecting the natives because I know you want low cost living and the conversion seems great but you are Malian it harder for the day to day of the people and displacing them

This video was a 10/10 I’ve been to DR brings back memories. Went with my friend their family from Santiago but we went all over the whole island . And the freeing feeling you got when you’re there at night next to the Teteo is best feeling . Or when you’ve had a few drinks it’s the best drunk you’ll have with some bachata playing in the background. 10/10 experience. And 10/10 video!

been living here for 6m and havent had a problem :) a big part is knowing how to carry yourself, but I'm from Belize so I know all about that. I have noticed that it's more of a conscious effort for men here who are a much bigger target than women. & well you def wont see me walking around el centro alone looking like a tourist bc physically, I can't blend in, worse when i open my mouth :/

Little Brother, people need hope. When it's missing in quantity...and for long periods of time, people numb themselves to the evils or even decide to be part of the problem. We have the same problems here in the USA. Though we may have more wealth and social safety nets, tge decline is accelerating. People need to WANT change. More importantly, the need to stand up and do their part to do better. Rome wasn't built in a day. But when people drop the ball...it comes down a lot faster.

I spent the last two years in Medellin and absolutely loved it. Thabk god i never had a problem. I was thinking of living there forever but im to scared to sell my house in Florida that has a 2% mortgage. Ive decided tp keep my house and live kn Colombia 3 months and usa for 3 months. 3 months on 3 months off. Giving me the best of both worlds. Its so hard to just drop everything on the usa and live in a foreign countries. Unless you abs jave no responsibilities in the usa its hard to leave forever

@andresonearth28 күн бұрын
You are completely wrong. If u go to a produce market in Colombia u will see all types of tropical fruits and vegetables. The beef is much better quality, it’s not factory farm corn fed gmo like in the USA. You probably went to Colombia and just shopped at the regular supermarket. Colombians go to the butcher for meat and markets for fruits and vegetables.

Gracias, Andrés, por este vídeo. ¿Conoces la seguridad de Eje Cafetero (Quindío)? ¿Vale la pena visitar allá (por los recorridos turisticos)?
@andresonearthАй бұрын

Just about to book my flight to Medeiin and staying in Laureles for 3 months when I saw your video. in numbers, it's low compared to the number of tourists visiting or living in the city, but how many robberies not getting reported? probably a lot. Now you got me confused... I've read online and a lot of people say - just be safe, don't walk alone at night, pay attention... etc so I decided to look for another place to live. and then I thought - in the city you have everything - it's not expensive, cafes, restaurants, nice women and men, everything. So I decided to book a flight. But if you need to worry and look around all the time for potential threats - so, why? is it worth it? Please tell me if it's this dangerous or if I should book a flight, I really can't decide! thanks for the video
@andresonearthАй бұрын
I made this video because I see many tourists who don’t understand how to behave in Latin America. People are a bit too nonchalant about situational awareness and safety. Many people online romanticize Colombia, but I wanted to show that it’s not all pretty here. It’s not nearly as dangerous as it used to be & Medellin is one of the “safer” cities in Colombia but Robbery is definitely common here and u are right many robberies don’t get reported. Just be aware of your surroundings and follow your gut feeling. Also make sure to speak decent Spanish!
@andresonearthАй бұрын
Also wether it’s worth it or not is dependent on ur situation & many other factors. I like living here because it’s my mother country and my family is here, so for me it’s worth it. but I also kind of like being on my toes and always aware of my surroundings, it keeps me sharp.

I've been to Medellin twice in the last 8 months and never felt unsafe once. Of course there's a chance of something happening but it's still safer than some US cities. Just be aware of your surroundings like any large city and don't do anything stupid and you should be fine.

Best way to not get robbed there is to not go. There are some very creative thieves there. From violent to ingenious. Just take care and don’t carry valuables or too much money. Lots of poverty there. Good perspective on things there…
