What was the total weight ready to fly. The instructions say ready to fly 12-14# mine is 16#. I am using 12s Electric setup. Did not have to add any extra weight. Not sure why it came out so heavy.

No guarantee, but if you replace the engine bay with plywood and protect the cowling from heat, I can imagine that, but I have no experience of how the material holds up in the long term under vibration (hairline cracks are conceivable), I would then at least laminate the fuselage. But I doubt whether it's worth the effort.

Your flying looks very precise. Everytime you start or end a roll it looks crisp and sharp. At 2:40 , 3:30 or 3:40 for example. I´ve seen this from other pilots, too. The start of my rolls look "smoother" but in a way I don´t like. How do you do that? Low expo or a specific way/order of controlling the joystick?

@printpilot3d

I printed all the flaps and rudders in PLA+, depending on the speed the rudders will warp. But what will work is if you print the rudders and flaps with 2-3 lines (LW) to be on the safe side.
@DenisFerrari
@DenisFerrari 10 ай бұрын
@@printpilot3dso far I printed 2 rudders in PLA, very robust indeed, but their total weight (15% infill, no geoid on them at the moment) is about 22gr. Maybe 6% geoid filling still with PLA could let save some weight with them...? Thanks again

What are the advantages of such a model? I don't think that EDF are efficient for glider models and are quite heavy. Is it because it could be a good all purpose model or just the fun of making something different?. From the video it seems to fly quite well
@printpilot3d
@printpilot3d Жыл бұрын
Hi, as with every type of drive, there are advantages and disadvantages. In this case, the shape of the fuselage makes it impossible to install a front motor. The EDF sits right in the CG, and the model has to get airborne on its own. Since I don't want an extra fuselage for the slope, I simply unscrew the EDF and can fly on the slope. That is the main reason. And I like the sound. As for the weight, I don't think the EDF unit is really heavier than a front motor, the EDF itself is no heavier than an aluminium folding propeller mount with propeller. What makes the EDF models heavier is the battery to achieve the same motor runtime as a normal front motor, but with this model 2min EDF runtime is enough for me, that's why a smaller Lipo is installed.

Great flight! I have printed the model in PLA+, too. I haven't maiden it yet, because I am afraid, that it will be two heavy. How is your takeoff weight? My Pitts is about 1940 g without battery. I had to take a 4S 5000 to get the correct CG with my motor. The motor pulls 2800g at 50 Amps.

Oh, you can't compare the two with each other. And also not in the PLA version (Pitts). Alone the assembly and disassembly, the Pitts remains built with me, thereby no longer fits so much in the car. From flying it is all again a matter of taste. With us it is always windy, since the Shard is already better. Watch videos, both are good, I will of course still fly the Pitts and test.
