I dont think there is really any merit to this theory and it all seems to stem from his first interaction with Ripley though if you have ever seen how young officers interact with civilian contractors it's very rigid and following their lead because they haven't really developed as leaders yet. The rest of the film is just your stereotypical "boot LT." Where they try to lead but ultimately have to fall back on their Senior NCO's.

I have always questioned why the colonists "P.D.T's" only transmitted their locations. surly they would also transmit basic information about the person, and if they are either alive or dead. ultimately, if Gorman was really involved with Burke's plan, he wouldn't have survived the trip. For if all had gone to plan, and they get back to the Sulaco with impregnated people. Gorman's position moves from Ally to liability. he has no more cards to play, Burke has what he wants and has no further use for Gorman. So, when Ripley during Burke's interrogation, talks about Burke "sabotaging certain freezers on the way home", who's to say this wouldn't include Gorman's freezer as well - that way Gorman ultimate role in the grand scheme, is patsy!

There is an Alien book I read where Ripley is picked up and trys to help with another Alien incursion. Then she ends up back in stasus on the shuttle with her mind wiped. I wonder if it's based on that.

He says, "Look, those two specimens are worth millions to the bio-weapons division. Now if you're smart we can both come out of this heros, and we will be set up for life." What do you want to bet he had a similar conversation with Gorman before the mission?

I just took when I saw the movie in the theaters as, the stereo types of corporate greed and incompetent military leadership, that I seen in so many modern movies that I'm sick of seeing even before this movie came out.

Now I've seen the movie, and it was disappointing.

Gorman was a pawn, a tool as much as the rest of them. He was incompetant for the mission, but he wasnt a bad person imo.

I never got that impression to be honest. His character arc is complete when he truly admits he's in over his head. The nest ambush really humbled him. You can see it when he's fighting alongside the grunts afterward. I was never in the military but I had friends who were. Gorman was what they call a "Butterbar" in real life. An officer with high ambition but no real experience.

Here's something I never realized before. They could locate the Hadley's Hope personal upon arrival. Later they locate most of them at The Atmosphere Processor. They say they assertained their locations with implanted Personal Data Transmiters. Well wouldn't they devices detect if these people were alive or dead? That's a piece of Personal Data it would have been nice to know before recklessy going in to 'rescue' them?

all this time ago, i can see cameron planning the unfolding of the tragic events after coming in cock sure of winning by their cutting edge weapons, realizing only too late how ineffective they are in the face of such a determined opponent.

it always seemed to me the gorman was jump promoted despite his inexperience and bc of it, never given all the facts, esp the "bring back an alien at any cost to human lives" prime directive. the overwhelming chain of events traumatizes him until he understands he and the others are mere cannon fodder to that nefarious WU goal, at which point he changes sides to make the sacrifice with vasqueze. he was specifically chosen by burke bc of his proclivity to freeze up in real life crisis.

Ya, thruster flames just piss them off, so that alien isnt dead. Alien xenobyte just brushed off the thruster blast in covenant, and cold doesnt do anything but piss them off as well. AvP, as well as resurrection show this. So thats 3 aliens that survived by being jettisoned off into space. 1st alien, the queen from aliens, and the xenobyte from covenant. N lets not forget the queen from avp is just stuck underwater n possibly frozen
