He got different sound receptors on a sound pad, that is somewhat made out of electromagnets. The paper bars all other notations but reveals only the ones intended. Then he uses mechanical energy to get converted into electrical energy. The sound thus produced is accelerated by his wooden structures, maybe fitted with brass pipes within. But why do we need to do such things in modern era? HOLY BRAILLE 🧐

Absolutely not. Go to any traction engine rally/steam fair and you'll see and hear mechanical ('fairground') organs operating in a similar way, though mechanically driven, often by a showman's engine, as they are much larger. Musical boxes and barrel organs are somewhat similar in operation. Punched cardboard books for mechanical organs and punched paper roll for mechanical/reproducing pianos and orchestrions have been around for 150 years, but their history goes back three centuries. From 1725 they were used for controlling weaving looms; later they were adapted for mechanical musical instruments and from the 1880s for the Monotype typesetting machine (which I've used). More recently, punched paper tape was used for data storage in computer systems. Research and knowledge make the difference between a foolish pronouncement and a sensible comment.

The hard part is not letting the jam mess up the crank speed. You get too into it and start cranking too fast, the music will start playing faster and it'll sound weird.
