I can relate to his comments about staring out the window at school and having zero thoughts with no ambition. I grew up in Croydon South London in the late 80s early 90s. We lived on a council estate and went to the local shitty schools. The most achievable ambitions we had growing up were to either be a van driver, work for the local council or a bin man. I remember sitting in class 1997, year 7 first year of secondary and doing exactly as Noel said, around us were all these exciting developments in the country New Labour, Millennium Dome and celebrations planned, the new tram system about to open. There was hope for those that could afford it! The Working class though we had to trudge on while all these things were happening. Labour bought out the new deal to help people back into work but like all governments turned sour raised taxes sold out the working class and broke all their promises! As a culture we demonised the working class as Chavs and poured the downfall of our country into them instead of turning a mirror onto our government.

His childhood was abysmal and he was hugely physically (not sexually) and mentally abused by his dad. He never hardly speaks about it and he doesn't bare grudges. Didn't like this man too much (no real opinion as I never met him) but I respect him hugely now since I heard his true story...

I totally agree that in the day that Oasis Are The Beatles Of The 1990s. In fact, in my hometown, in 2024, almost everyone is huge Oasis Fan's because we all appreciate Great Music. Times Have Musically Moved On . To most people, music and songwriting evolve with time, yet I'm glad that I live in this era ! Music Is Our Healer

Excellent interview! The transparency of someone who feels good in his own skin. But he's bigger than his image. That's a fact! It's no coincidence that he's one of the best songwriters ever. Tks

French people do talk weird, I can't understand a word they say, whoever invented the 2nd language back in olden days was an idiot, 1 planet 1 language would have been fine, try watching a foreign film when you're dozing off, very annoying.

He raises a good point about learning French being pointless. I’ve only ever gone to that country under duress. Would never choose to. Come to think of it geography and RE were pretty pointless too. And they took of dropping music the food of the soul.

I just don't understand how he has the audacity to speak of Amy Winehouse when he called her 'horse face'. How does anyone not know if mindless comments like that did not affect her? She may well have dwelled on that plus other insults, I am sure she realized she had a long face but boy was she beautiful when she was well. But then HE insulted Michael Hutchence and called him a 'has been' instead of having manners and saying 'thank you' when Michael H presented him with an award.. You can take the kids from the council estate but you cannot take the council estate out of the kids. And he shows it. Okay his songs are poetic but the man himself is far from. Plus he is nasty to Liam and the rest he needs to grow up as he spoils things for many as he forever throws his toys out of the pram.
