I’m not too familiar with mini split systems. Curious how it works being 30k btu but then only 12k and 9k cassettes? How is that enough cooling capacity when most RV’s this size are triple 15k btu

Jack, are the gear packs and the Jack shaft between them accessible for maintenance?
@JackMayer
@JackMayer Жыл бұрын
There is no real maintenance required. If you break a sheer bolt you can access that. You can also access the gears if you break a tooth. Both may require removing a panel under the rig. I've done both on my personal rigs with no issue. But in general there is little reason to do that in normal situations.

How does the length of this exact combination compare to the length of a F350 crew cab with 8’ bed?
@JackMayer
@JackMayer Жыл бұрын
This truck is 30' long, bumper to bumper. Yet maneuvers better than a CC dually because of the wheel cut and location of the hitch. It enables backing into spots that the CC dually would have far more of a problem with.

@@JackMayer Thanks for the information. I figured that it would have a better turning radius because the F350 turn radius is horrible. Even the F450 is much better.

Jack, most units I’ve seen have a step up platform on the upper deck, why? And... if you want to use a DC to DC converter, is it possible to hide the cable inside the frame? (Never mind on my 2nd question.)

Very nice. Just one thing I would change. I would add fish plates from the hitch frame to the front uprights to the lower deck. But that's me. I tend to over build. I would also add gussets to the front hitch beam to the side box beams.

@@edgewood2441 A fish plate is a flat plate of steel that is as thick or thicker than the frames thickness. Twice as long as the frame is wide. If your frame is 10 inches wide between the upper and lower flanges than the fish plate has to be 20 inch by 10 inch.

Jack ! may I ask why still the 5th chassis and not a full semi trailor example spacecraft etc, its got to be stronger allthough heavier I presume but with the increased class 8 semi towing these RV s would it not be less hassle , thinking of the increased use of full semi rigs overall its slowly becoming the norm to get away from the normal pick-ups style of old.

Residual value has always been above average, compared to other RVs. At least in our experience. But it is still not an "investment", but a depreciating asset - and should be viewed as such.
@dannylayton1106

What is the purchase price of something like this? Thanks. Trying to compare to equal units.
@JackMayer
@JackMayer Жыл бұрын
It is a custom unit, so it would depend on what YOU wanted in it. But on a Majestic figure on an average of about $5700/ft for most people. It can be done for less, but not much less. A Summit would be less than that, of course. A Summit compares well (price wise) with a Luxe or a DRV. A Majestic does not really have any comparison to a production unit - it would only be compared to a Spacecraft 5th wheel. (not the semi).

I love the contemporary look of your rig. I love the floor plan although we would have added a 1/2 bath to make it look more like the DRV Houston floor plan which you obviously enhanced (in a very good way). Kudos to your rig!! Love it.

@@lesgarten The electrical upgrades are gong to be totally different than what I indicated in the video. I'll use all Victron components - Multiplus inverters running split phase 240v. Fed by a 48 volt battery system with three (minimum) Trophy server rack battery packs (over 15 KWH of power). This will allow me to run my mini-split off of the battery bank. Roof will be covered with solar panels - probably the REC's.

Do you know anything about the wiring on a hot water heater for an rv? I bought a 6 gallon h2o heater and it's got the white, black, green for the power, but it's also got red green and blue, which I imagine goes to the switches. The wires coming out of rv are grey, white, blue, and brown. Not sure what's what. Lol

I’m not completely familiar with the big foot levelers. Do they have the sensors in the boxes that house the pumps and reservoirs or are the sensors somewhere else to control the leveling function?
@JackMayer
@JackMayer 3 жыл бұрын
There is a central control panel on this model that controls the levelers. Each leveler has its own pump and resevoir. They also make other versions that have a central fluid resevoir. We have always had the four point system (for the last 20 years), and prefer it to other offerings.
