I saw Rory seven times in all, four times between 1977 to 1980 when he was totally firing on all cylinders. You really had to be there..... Some of the German tv programmes give you some idea what it was like, or Rock goes to College. His albums don't capture the magic at all, not even the live ones which all seem to be tinkered with to a degree. As I said, you had to be there...

I saw him at the Royal Oak Theater in the early 70s. I'd never seen a "relic" Strat like the one he played. He definitely lived up to his reputation, what a performer.

What an amazing musician this guy was. Much more than just a "gunslinger", he played with an inspiration that few possessed, and was a very underrated songwriter as well.

Rory.. ce pur bluesman me manque ! Il manque au monde fou d'aujourd'hui. Sa musique, son art est intemporel. Sa voix me transperce . Un artiste hors norme..un vrai ! Je l'aime et l'aimerai toujours.. Mes pensées sont pour toi lorsque je saisis ma basse et que le blues m'envahit ! Jim depuis la Normandie en France.
