Hey I downloaded this project bc I'm obsessed with procedural animations, but unfortunately tried to open it in Unreal (on Mac) and it asked me to rebuild the project. Will try it on my PC. Also is it possible to get that cute little dog walking anim you show at the end of the project? Will pay $$ for it if you put it on yr gumroad!
@ContinueBreak6 күн бұрын
You get that message because the project contains C++ code in it. For Windows, you might need to install Visual Studio to be able to build the project. And I have no clue how that would work on Mac. Also, I could probably add the dog walking animation prototype project files as an extra to the current project files. I'll probably add it tomorrow.

I just looked around, and it appears `FObjectInitializer` is a proxy your CDO can use when creating its subobjects, instead of calling `NewObject<>()` manually. Then any child classes of your object can configure the `FObjectInitializer` before sending it into your constructor, to change what subobjects are created.

Yes, you can, that's how I did it. The issue was saving the state of the lumen, not turning it off.

I like the straight to the point style of tutorial. But I feel like this would be better for a boat instead of a car. At least how mine turned out. Leaning of the vehicle is a little to exaggerated for my taste, the wheels feel like they have no traction and turning feels slow and weird. Just feels like im driving a boat instead of a car.
@ContinueBreak2 ай бұрын
You can experiment with all suspension, tire traction, and engine settings on your own to try to make it feel how you like it. There were just too many settings to adjust, so I just slightly altered some of the default settings so it would be easier to see that suspension is working, etc. The video idea was to show how to set up a basic vehicle in UE4, so you would know how to get it working in UE4.

@ContinueBreak2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry that this video felt too fast for you, but it's impossible to make an informational video that would be good for everyone. The website is not just images. There's also text where I try to explain how some things work and how I figured out how to solve some problems while making this concept. It's not meant to be a beginner-friendly video where I show and explain every small detail. I just wanted to show how to make a relatively basic physics-based helicopter in the Unreal Engine. Also, there are free project files available that you can download and see how everything is set up.

when I do the rig, the origin of some wheels changes and is no longer centered based on the geometry.
@ContinueBreak2 ай бұрын
Bone is no more at the center of wheel? If you used the addon to rig, it should set the bone at the center of the mesh geometry. Maybe your mesh has some vertices left outside of it so it messes with the geometry center calculations.

it is posible to control the heli with virtual reality controls? i mean, first person pov from the cabin and u have to take the steer with the grip and the lever for the gas.
@ContinueBreak3 ай бұрын
It should be possible. By your question, I can see that you're new to game dev. If you're serious about doing game dev, please don't do this heli VR thing as your first project. Unreal Engine is not too beginner friendly, it's overwhelming for beginners. Do some beginner courses and then try to recreate really simple games so you get a hang of the engine, and then try to do VR heli.

Hi bro, How did you solve the Queen has been pinned by Rook at 13.00
@ContinueBreak3 ай бұрын
I'm looking in every direction from the king piece to see if there's a friendly piece. If there's a friendly piece, then I check if there's an enemy piece after it. If there's an enemy piece, I'm checking if it would attack my king if I removed that friendly piece from the way. Then, if a piece is pinned, I can look at what type of piece is pinned and determine which moves I should allow for the pinned piece. I have heard that some people do it in a simpler way by just testing all possible moves for a piece and seeing if a move is making your king checked and if it's checked, then you simply invalidate that move.

Now I have a question, to make cinematic animation of cars, is there a way for me to make the chassis have a procedural body animation like in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJqVldBhvanPmJs.html so that it also moves with the obstacles?
