My goodness. I pay the gentleman an honest compliment for his refined presentation skills. But it doesn’t pass muster with the audience. There’s a term for that. But the effect is to suppress future comments, which only hurts the channel in KZfaq metrics. Sigh.

You’re definitely over the target. AyA definitely fits the bill, but let’s not discount some American builders like Lc Smith, and Parker? Even though it’s not a terribly expensive, or sophisticated gun, my absolute favorite SxS belonged to my Dad; a JP Sauer & Sohn model 60 in 20 gauge. It has 26” barrels, choked mod/ic, and weighs less than 7 pounds. Aside from the fact that it was my Dads, that gun just fits me well. Everytime I shoulder it, it’s like embracing an old friend!!

They are quite popular in Sweden, but in a hevier rifle cartridge. Mine is 16/8x57. I use it for ground gamie in woodland hunting, where hares, fox and roe are on the menu for the shotgun barrels. Then I put on the scope if a wildbore or a moose appears. Recoil is not an issue, you may fire one or two shots on a good day.

It's a pity lots of UK clay grounds are banning pump actions.

* David, you've lived a most sheltered life. Germany and Austria have been producing Drillings, and other two, three, and four barrel configurations for over 150 years. Most of these shotgun barrels were chambered in 16 ga. as opposed to any other ga. The scopes are detachable, and are meant to fit fairly tight so the point of aim will be the same when reattaching it. If this gun is a .22 Win. Mag. it's not much more powerful than a .22 L.R. If the chamber is for the .222 Rem. Mag. cartridge, that cartridge is similar to the .223 Rem. The .222 RM. is a good round, but the .223 Rem. has surpassed it largely due to the .223 aka. 5.56 NATO being a military round. There should not be a problem with recoil from either round. Most of the Drillings that I've encountered do have engraving. My guess, this gun appears to be from Ferlach.

The "drilling" is pretty common here in germany. The older hunters say that you could get one for the price of 12 Sold fox skins or 6 martens 60 years ago. Sure enough not such nice guns from ferlach but sauer, krieghoff and gunmakers in the DDR made some pretty solid ones.

The 22WMR is a very very mild recoil.
@Bunduki23 сағат бұрын
Combination rifle/guns are actually not rare David, the .22 WMR is the next size cartridge up from a .22LR very little, if any recoil in a heavier gun like that one , used for small game such as rabbits & fox .

@ROE1300Күн бұрын
👍 I agree with another commenter, I believe these firearms were called “Drillings”. If both rifle and shogun were single shot I believe they are called “Combination” guns. I have never personally seen either but always thought the idea was an excellent one for hunting. I would love to own a Drilling with 20 gauge and .22 magnum barrels. Thank you for sharing this firearm, very interesting.

this kind of guns are quite common in Germany. I doubt .22 WMR will have enormous amount of recoil :D
@DaibhidhBhoAlba23 сағат бұрын
He says they're rare, but there's actually quite a few if these types in the UK (mainly drillings). They're more of a pain for the shotgun brigade because you have to have a firearms licence to own them, not just a shotgun licence, which means they're a little harder to get permission for and, importantly, they're subject to firearms use regulation, which is tighter and the police are more involved in where you can use them, whereas shotguns can be used anywhere the shotgun owner seems safe.

In germany we have " Drillings".A mix of shotgun,223,308.Or some other calibers.Hunters like to use 'em.

One of the best and cheapest shotgun. I had this gun for 5 year only with 2 trigger. Sold it last year, but the best huntings were only with this gun. I regret that I sold it. Now it’s problem to find it in good condition 😢

I have four side by sides a CZ a old Ithaca from the '70s both in 20 gauge a 1982. Franchi albatross in 12 gauge with an English stock. And the Beretta 627el in 12 gauge with a pistol grip stock. I really prefer the side by side for upland hunting at the risk of sounding corny. It feels more traditional than an over and under or an auto loader. I also enjoy shooting skeet with the side-by-sides versus the over and under's.

I applied for my SGC back on the 29th of January, my home visit was the 30th of May, the officer said I will probably have to wait 2 to 3 months for my cert through the post, is this normal?

I have a Yildiz 12g Texas edition and I bought it second hand from a friend that said it was to stiff! And he had already shot around 500 rounds thru it.. and now I've had it for over 5 years and 3000 rounds later it's still stiff lol but like this gentleman said.. let it take its course and let it get lose with wear 👍

I'm from Kansas and I believe you are spot on about side by sides. As we get older as wing shooters, there is a lot to be said about tradition. You reach a point in wing shooting ( especially) hunting) that you realize it's not about the take of game, but how you go about doing it. A side by side encompass all the traditions, and you discover along the way that our predessors knew a thing or two about wing shooting !

Gold game birds on any gun now is a little 80's grade 6 325 ish,much prefer the carbon fibre looking one they once did. Nothing wrong with synthetic stocks on autos, your hardly likely to be on a driven pheasant day with it, i find them ideal for pigeon shooting, quick wipe down with a damp cloth the mud has gone. Not a fan of gas auto's though, messy to clean compared to an inertia, however I know gas operated are easier on the shoulder.

Owning both of them. F3 a bit heavier which makes it easyer to control in tthe flow. F16 a bit more "nervous", be carefull not to give to quick to much lead. F3 perfect for the sporting/clays - F16 easy for the hunt; game, grouse ..to crowhunting. Both of them perfect
