Great story and photos. You are very lucky to have those cars you grew up with. My dad had a 356 cabriolet that he traded in for a white 190 SL in 62. Gave that to my brother a few years later. That was when Studebaker was selling MB through their dealerships snd my mom traded her '56 Dodge for a Riviera blue Gran Turismo Hawk. The cars had sequential license plates. I got the Hawk. My brother and I got a 1939 Cadillac Imperial Touring sedan and did a mechanical frame up restoration of that when we were in school.

What’s funny about that element sticker is the only thing that really kills them is the rear trailing arm mount rusts away and the wheel does fall off.

My 55 Caddy had the battery under the right front fender and was. Long 12volt I had to buy a John Deere battery for it as none of the parts houses had one. lol ran beautifully with just the single carburetor. Series 62 coupe with crank windows.

It was that car cover that was on it, the thing just disintegrated and turned to this grey fluff. Really made it look worse than it was. Same thing with a couple other cars in the warehouse.

I watch the channel "Cadillac Coach Work". This guy is great in working with classic Cadillacs. This guy would be the right person to bring this Caddillac closer to roadworthiness. And maybe he would be the pefect owner for this car. And he knows his people in the Cadilac community. I suggest you contact him.

I think those Caddies and other GM luxury cars had remote opening and probaby even remote lock for the trunk. I have no idea if it was electric, hydraulic or simply mechanical.
