We’re running a very shallow bar with a big tides. When a big set comes in it looks pretty impressive they manage to time them quite well .

Is there a slack time or you just wing it through there on a hope and a prayer ?
@westcoastrippers98623 күн бұрын
I think it was slack water still big ugly ones come through.The breakwater runs out for quite awhile. Boats are designed to pull nets so they’re not very fast but got lots of torque. It’s all about timing crossing the bar. But Mother Nature throw the odd big wave in. i’m afraid you just gotta go with it. The bar is also running a little bit shallow at the moment which doesn’t help.

As long as the engine is running and the helmsman is in control of the boat there's no problem😊

I was chatting to a skipper a few years ago the throttle broke someone had to jump down in the Engine room and throttle it as they cross the bar😬

Walking out on the foredeck during a bar crossing at night for no apparent reason. I imagine the skipper had a few choice words for them afterward.
@westcoastrippers986212 күн бұрын
The rules are they need to be on deck in case of capsising - it was pretty calm that night, they were wearing the lifejackets but perhaps they should’ve been behind the wheelhouse?
