The Cook Canyon coming in after a week at sea, with a big swell as it comes in - the captain times perfectly. He makes it look easy.

@@wpb.sailor so many times they just time it right but this bar is crazy they can get caught out quite easy as some of my other video show thanks for watching.

Loved it. Lived on a boat and travelled around the UK, my home... That skipper showed every minute of his time learning those skills. That was Beautiful... Please pass my best wishes on to him and the crew... Superb Seamanship and Skill...🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

It’s crazy how it looks like "no big deal” but it actually takes some skill… when shit goes wrong crossing the bar it goes wrong fast.

Conditions like this are no joke. You get one chance, no room for error. I rubber neck constantly in following seas, to ensure I’m not surprised from the rear and get swamped or bow stuffed into the wave ahead. It’s a dance of nerves.

Bloody Kiwis do know the ocean with the best of them 👍🏻but years fishing in Tassie makes this look calm enough to throw my kids in for a bath 😅

Kiwis are the best sailors in the world from what I have seen. They are all half Maori, so sailing and the ocean is in their blood. I have worked with sailors from NZ, Oz, UK, USA, Asia and Canada. I think the only ones close to the Polynesians/Maori are the Phillipinos.
