Yeah, flatpaks are great Why get security updates for your dependencies, who needs those? And why use up 15 mb of disk space when you could use 1.5 Gb instead??!

I wonder when the scroll wheel patent expires. Maybe someone like Anbernic can make a iPod like they do like every other classic handheld from the past.
@exodous0216 сағат бұрын
I had the like the first 20 gig ipod, loved it, but it got stolen. By that time the ipod touches had come out, that is how long it lasted, and I just didn't like a mp3 player without a scroll wheel. That wheel made it so easy/fast to go through a library of hundreds of albums.

Not that I know of but I've had luck SSHing into a machine like a Pi and then using telnet to connect to a BBS. Of course, you'll lose PETSCII encoding and some formatting when you do that- a lot of these BBSes are really optimized for vintage computers.

Funny story, you seem more at home in a terminal. Just install apps in terminal. You can install fdroid and aoura. Be cool to see on a retro pc. lol The oldest that can handle the programs. lol

I've been looking into buying a second hand iPod Classic lately. These things look very convenient. I hate that streaming services rely on the internet so much even when you download music.

I'm a bit sad because all my phones are Samsung and they seem to just not support alternative OSs at all. :( ... Yes, I had to throw away my 3-inch thick lead case because it blocked the 5G death rays. ;) ... I have a huge problem with "welcome wizards": I tend to say "yeah, yeah, yeah, skip all this crap... I don't care!" and then, later, yell "How do you actually use this damn thing!" ;)

Love the vid and LOVE your style!!! I am using Mint. I don't understand the statement " because Firefox conveniently drops them there when I download them" ????? I have subscribed; your're awesome!!! I'm putting you in for a raise!!
@VeronicaExplains2 күн бұрын
Thank you for the sub, and the kind words! The Firefox statement is a joke- my Downloads folder becomes full of ISOs because I try so many distros out for work purposes, and I usually just keep Firefox set to drop any new downloaded files in the "Downloads" folder.

I went through that stage!!! Just running Mint now for 4 years. The reason found you is a program called ThinkorSwim kept freezing my system and I don’t want to migrate to Windows so we will try this. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yes, Mastodon and Friendica have this local TL, with your own instance you have no advantage because the community is missing. If someone wants their own instance, they are better off with Akkoma, (streams) or Hubzilla.

i like profit. profit's how you know you're doing something good, because in a voluntary exchange, both parties are better off having made that exchange. but not everything's voluntary unfortunately, and in a world where owning ideas is enforceable, it's not like if a company is shortsighted and fucks up, someone else can pick up and go. it's dumb. dumb dumb dumb.

I got an iPod Nano 6th (the tiny one) as an anniversary gift from Megacorp in 2012. For a long time, I used it to play through the cassette stereo in the Venerable Bronco. Over time, the power switch stopped working, which I discovered is a common problem with that model. I have seen tutorials on repairing this, but it comes on when you connect the USB to something and shuts down if it's not playing and you disconnect it. So I use it as a bedside music system with a couple of speakers I had lying about.
