Traverse, read, perform simple action, progress. Right? That’s a simple premise of a game and I played those (Zelda’s being most of them) when I was a kid.

I know it's not a typical reading of the film, but watching it, it seems to me that the film is actually quite ambivalent. Yes, it sees Brad and Janet as naive and stuffy. But it portrays Frank N' Furter and his crew as cool and wild, but also quite dangerous. Not the good guys per se. If this were a straight up, "these people are good and these people are bad" movie, it wouldn't tap so heavily into the collective imagination. It resonates because it's about the connection fun, joy and sexual liberation have to danger and self-destruction. And it doesn't underplay or soft peddle the danger bit, like people read it as doing today. It's a musical about jouissance, and that's partly why I love it. Thanks for the video!

If it's in chronological order, Teddy says on 10:55 that he's still there because of Natalie, but then on 12:25 he doesn't even know who Natalie is so how does that make sense?

6:49 that's putting it lightly. Kubrick made a masterpiece film, compared to an amateur hour made for TV borefest.

Hearing about the intense labor-of-love that went into making the costumes for tLotR trilogy (and even The Hobbit) really just helps highlight why the Rings of Power just lacks that specific "oomf" to it, that certain "Lord of the Rings" magic. It's in the details. The extras are wearing REAL chainmail made by hand. Viggo Mortenson made repairs himself when his Aragorn costume started to fall apart. The elves all wear gowns with hand-embroidered detailing. The Rohirans wear real leather stamped with barely-visible horse imagery. There was so much love put into those films. Whereas in the RoP, you can tell they use fabirc as a shorthand for the chainmail, with high-quality foam armor and props. The fabric has printed-on designs. It just looks like expensive cosplay. Because that's what Amazon made: a cheapened replica of the original.

I just cannot believe that even the most ruthless and pathetically mechanical corporate demands on the franchise could possibly perfect the incredible "Uglification" that Star Wars has become...in other words, it appears to be a highly educated and intentional disaster.

Excellent. I saw it in-theaters as a kid and enjoyed it as fun escapism, but over the years I've been surprised at how much it's stuck with me - not just a funny line or a cool action sequence, but its premise, scenarios, characters, gadgets, etc.. Its world: realized, its characters: fleshed-out, its humor: clever. Much hidden depth in MiB.

This has always seemed like a game that is perfect for me from all the way I hear it talked about, but I've put many hours into it and traveled to most all the planets and uncovered other dimensions.... but it still hasn't clicked for me. I am curious if I'm maybe just not far into it enough yet? This video is definitely making me want to go further. And I do really love the whole exploration of it. I just feel like maybe I'm missing some sort of direction.

This whole story focuses on Eros love and nothing of Agape or even Filos. It has little to do with the human condition and only analyzes a symptom. The symptom in this case is ignorance as most people have probably never heard of Agape or Filos. The human condition is slavery, not trying to form Eros' relationships and struggling to find meaning and purpose. Mankind is weighed down by ignorance and because of this we have dug ourselves into a giant hole of slavery. We are bound to slavery by violence and because of that we can't find any real meaning until we create a condition of freedom generated by love in the Agape sense.

I have rewatched the theatrical version a few times and only a few days ago did I learn that the director's cut had more information about the characters from a youtube comment no less. The DC was great and I have enjoyed it better and came to understand the movie more. Thanks for covering the important details.

I don't think that Dan being possessed was a detriment because it wasn't just his father's actions that he was not dealing with well, but the hotel itself and the darkness that lay there. He locked away the ghosts in his mind and never dealt with them. It is similar to people 'locking away' their past, but when those ggosts inevitability come out they can take over a person, making them act in ways they normally wouldn’t. He had to fight his way theough all of his demons, his father and the ghosts of the past (literally) to finally gain the peace he so deserved.

Someone never heard of the game of Go. In fact, mathematician John Conway showed that Go can be used as the basis of a whole new realm of numbers. This is so profound that even some chess positions are equivalent to Go positions. Chess itself has absolutely no scientific interest.
