I enjoy these videos mostly for seeing how you make new parts to replace worn or broken parts. But when you make it look new, that's all you have, a new looking thing. Restore the funtionality, leave the patina. When you make it look new, you erase all the years of history. You remove the charm of a bygone era.

Proceso súper sencillo y nada laborioso. No veo el momento de llegar a casa y ponerme a hacer llaves en miniatura. Imprescindibles en cualquier caja de herramientas.

Final re-assembly: no grease? I can relate to the knurling restoration: the mount of my wiper blade base onto its post used a 37- knurl spline (evidently aluminum) which, owing to being a bit loose, got gradually chewed away. The only way to truly fix it was to get a micro-triangular file and re-do all of them. That's how I know today there are 37 of them!

wow absolutely a nice job (not a thing I say often). I'm surprised you didn't sand the thing beforehand though.

Just a tip, one thing I love is watching the sandblasting, as I'm sure a lot of others do also, please don't skip through it.

First of all, who can find a 240 z in such condition? Datsuns in such condition don't exist. They rusted while waiting to be sold at the dealership, that's how bad their sheet metal was.

That particular solvent varnish + linseed oil doens't look so good this time - - though it is indeed the right thing to do. Anyways, nice idea to use those solid little bars to draw the main bolt through (though I think even a pair of pencils would've worked). Also a great idea to blue only the inside grip pads.

For once I don't approve of the highily-destructive approach. Any rotary drill tool (Dremel, etc.) has thin cut-off tools that could have sliced off those rivets w/ minimal damage. I know you're going to tell me you replaced the handle anyway, but IMO this what downright repulsive. Not like you at all.

I would not have drilled those 2 holes for pins inside the housing. I would've punched them there, then dissassembled and drilled them "offline". Especially after you've introduced grease, this just makes things messy inside.

Вау, видео нет уже 4 месяца! 😮 Видимо это очень сложно - реставрация машины. Но я очень надеюсь что её когда-то завершат. Это такая невероятная работа! Спасибо что можно было наблюдать эти 3 серии.

Just awesome! Your work on the coils was just out of this world. If you would please - a question: what material did you make the banana plug insulators [and while we're at it - the bobbins] from? Delrin? Nylon? Something else?

As the stock was being pulled away, I could only imagine it's screaming and pleading for its life before being cut to size and reshaped from the outside in. Dark, I know, but it was a fun thought.

KZfaq doesn't do these videos justice: I can only "like" each one. There's no rating system - I can't "really like" or say something's "outstanding". One a scale of 1..10 these are an easy 11! Thank you.
