Alan Jones did exactly the same thing to Skaife at Symmonds Plains.

Minis were known for doing there diffs and losing control like we saw here, thank God the Marshall survived, Minis were very fast but very very deadly, something not mentioned enough.

And this is why Safety Cars are now used. Either had to Red Flag the Race or leave the Track almost blocked! 🤡

Larry Perkins' car definitely has great straight-line speed. Many ponies under the bonnet.

I didnt know Harvey could be such a dick. The move on Berger may have been 50/50. But O'Brien? He really slammed the door shut when it wasn't his turn. But hey, he got away with it until he slipped. Thankfully lots of steering lock on this circuit for drivers to pull those incredible saves a la Finnigan when he overdrove his anvil to stay in punching distance to Mr Precision Line Bond's slotcar.

Many of the big names Johnson, Brock, Moffat, Percy were not there as Moffat and Brock were travelling back from Spa though Harvey was back in time to commentate but Johnson was hoping that the RS500 would be homologated in time for Johnson to take part but the field did not have a single Ford Sierra which meant no Ford teams and drivers which disappointed the European based Ford teams who would have needed the data from the Australian Ford teams on the Calder Roval

I loved group A racing. Watching different types of cars racing against each other. Unlike the old v8’s ford vs Holden and now GM vs Ford America. Boring!

It’s a pity they bought in the super car laws , if Chrysler had been able to go ahead with the E55 V8 charger they would have had a Bathurst win in 73

Great video. A time where motor racing in Aus was 3 gears? 4 gears? V8, Slant 6. 6 Cyl straight? Whatever! No rotary's??

People that can’t read between the lines of Holden and Ford and dislike a driver because he drove a Ford are the biggest losers in Australia, Johnson was just as much a king of the mountain as brock was, bloody legend

That video explains an awful lot about the driving style of lots of us in that era - many of us who played in amatuer motorsport in that era also have similar driving styles apparently.

Bloody stupid centrelock wheel falls off the Fancydick Ovlov. And Gricey did NOT make the start line. Masterton also loses a centre lock. Brock had a broken rocker,, I believe they were still using factory tin rockers at the time.

WoW just found this.. I was working the corner as a Marshall the vision brings back very vivid memories. The lap before Alan Hamilton passed a car on the outside going under the bridge and I clearly recall think the pass was crazy.. The next lap I was proved right as the car a Lola chassis hit the armco that was protecting the bridge, tearing the car in two with only the tacho cable holding the two sections together. I recall vividly as the team worked to extract Alan from the car how quickly McRae and the others circulated past.. the footage shows the ambulance about three laps later but I recall the McRae car passing at what was an unsafe speed with all the hay and debris from the bridge all over the track. These days the race would have been stopped.. But in those days the Light Car Club cared more about TV, than people. Just so glad the Alan survived the crash though and the team of volunteers that make these racing events possible, please given them a thought the next time your at a race they do it for the love of the sport.

A los Holden siempre les pasa algo . Los Nissan a demás de ser los únicos que no tienen alerón trasero , demuestran ser los mejores autos de la categoría
