May I please ask; you mentioned bypass tracks. Do you just mean alternative entries and exits for the same obstacle (i.e palm creek and gunshot)? Thanks!

The two wheel drives a quiet capable and have been doing that road for decades. The difference is that the 4x4s are just too expensive to abandon on the side of the road like that and are quickly recovered.

Hey Mate. I am driving an LDV D90. It is not 4WD but it has good clearance off the road. I want to tackle the road from Laverton to Yulara. Do you reckon my car can do it, or would you not recommend it?

You are a goose mate, people up there are crying out for a decent road, they will be able to get supplies all year round, it's not all about you and your mates, and whats wrong with tourism it brings wealth to these places speak to the truckies speak to the locals you may get different point of view, plus it will stop tourism operaters ripping of visitors

Love this video! I'm planning a desert adventure soon and found this so interesting and very useful! Thanks for the tips like about the dust when overtaking and getting a radio to talk to other drivers. Very great ideas. And I have a 2WD van so thinking of going the long way around now so it doesn't end up in that desert graveyard haha!

Are you a safety officer mate? That was a good trip - I was up-and-down the Plenty and Sandover Highways a lot of times in the past, did a lot of work out there with the oil rigs and really love that country. If you ever go back, stop in for a night at Tobermorey and head up the access road next to Jervois to see Alan and Jo Fogerty at Lucy Creek Station, I spent months there!
