For the oil filter you can get the style that snaps on a ratchet and has 3 "claws" on it that tighten as you turn, that will fit in there it is what I use for mine.

Those saddlebags are a bit close to those pipes! You might want to check for melting under there! Need a louder horn? Put a pair of car horns on it. It will get you the attention you need.

Probably too late but anyway. If you hate the oil filter on this, try an 1100. Also you should never have to tighten an oil filter tighter than your empty hand can and lube the oring first. It will not leak or come loose and you will be able to take it back out empty handed as well.

Ill agree with you on the Handlebars. too damn low for a proper cruiser. shouldnt have to clamshell on a bagger style cruiser frame. and the floorboards are so far back that in order to sit right while going down the road you NEED highway pegs. problem is you cant use forward controls and highway bars at the same time. my other big gripe is that damed air cleaner box. its so massive your leg rests against it while going down the road and that thing gets hot. other than those two things i like the bike. i just wish it was bigger, im a big dude. lol.
Thanks for this video dude, it helped me a lot. Especially taking the old air box apart. I even went out and bought a T-splitter and extra vacuum hose before starting my install. However, once I got to the point of attaching the vacuum hose, I found that my bike only had one hose hooked up, and the other was the blocked off nipple thing. Not sure why our bikes differ (mine is a 2012, maybe that's the difference?) but it made my life easier, that's for sure. Cheers!

Bike oil filters are usually smaller than on cars, so the oil-filter-wrench might not grab. On my Suzuki, I cut some heavy-duty corrugated (double-wall) cardboard and wrapped it around the filter, then it grabbed. But if the filter was put on too tight, the easy solution is to take a normal blade screw-driver, and drive it through the filter! (after you put your drain pan underneath). Then you get a lot of force from the screwdriver handle. Works every time! Nice review though. I'm shopping used. I'm 6'5" and my wife is 6'2" and now I'm not sure if this is the bike for us....

For me and my 1300, The clunky transmission #1, The placement of the ignition switch #2. On the Deluxe you have a garmen above the hole, making it difficult to see when inserting the key. Coolant Reservoir access #3 horrible horrible horrible. Access to the rear shock for adjusting #4. Crappy saddlebag locks #5 I've had to replace then both twice now as they get stuck in the down position, without releasing the lid. The annoying ticking sound #6. The one that sounds like a main bearing going out, but every mechanic says is normal on the V-Stars. Rear Brake caliper #7. Hate how it just flops around when trying to install the rear wheel.

What is to be done with the breather hose you remove from the back of the original air intake? You didn’t cover that in your video. Thanks

There is a breather adapter that fits onto the circular collar behind the Hypercharger; it fits in there.

I recently got an 09 VStar 950 - love it but I agree about the wind - I may install the touring shield and lowers, which I hope will reduce the turbulence as my commute is a good chunk of highway riding. Tach would be good but I'd prefer a fuel gauge.

The "black" on your hand is because the lever is aluminum. Every bike does that. Buy a set of leather wraps for $15 and the problem goes away (and the bike looks a lot nicer).

The hypercharger with moving intake flaps is just a gimmick. A Cobra Powpro intake with ECU reflash is the way to go.
@fredyahn3808 Жыл бұрын
My bad, I should have said the black stuff on your hand on the clutch lever is from the acid from your hand interacting with the aluminum lever. I suggest a spray of clear enamel on the lever or wear gloves.

So many of your opinions are NOT of the bike but the accessories you or someone added to it. Let me know which cruiser bike has a Tach. Black something? Really ? could it be your aftermarket grips someone installed?

I've got an 07 1300 vstar #1 in all CAPS I HATE HATE HATE, WHERE THE KEY IS!!!!! I've got one other key on my keyring, it's for the bags. And it and the ring get caught under the handlebar cover all the time and it is SO FREEKING AGGRAVATING!! I hate it so bad, I hate it I hate it I hate it. I feel like I'm gonna break the key every time I try to pull it out. What a stupid place to put the key, there's not enough room. Other than that I wish the seat was lower I feel like I sit up to high. Which causes me to have to lift my chin up more than usual it makes it very uncomfortable on a even a 30 min. ride. My neck begins to hurt very bad. I changed my handlebar out, love that, love the power, also changed the exhaust, love the sound, I like that it's belt driver over shaft. Makes for less bad vibes in high gear lower speeds. Also have the same problem with the highway bars so I don't ever use them too much wind up in my chest If I could lower the seat Get a tach, that didn't look like a red neck add on and move the position of the key it'd be awesome!
