I come from an unrelated field, and I can say that most of what you said is fantastic practice for any great interpersonal communication based position. Fantastic work bringing that perspective to filmmaking and providing practical examples of how implementing your points will yield better returns.

Hey! Great content - I do have a question which is confusing to me. Waveforms - when shooting in Slog3 (Sony) and Using the rec709 Lut monitor , do I based the Waveform of the Slog3 or the Lut?
@jaredfilms
@jaredfilms 2 ай бұрын
thanks! Uhm I‘m not sure, I would try with and without and compare those graphs if you’re not certain of what the waveform is based on. At best you’re reading the waveform based on your log (what your camera sees)

this was wonderful! The whole clip just felt like an honest one on one heart to heart talk with a friend. I love the relaxed un-hyped and un-contrived tone, and the transparent vulnerability. Don't ever lose that touch no matter how famous you get...which btw...with your humble and winsome personality, I believe you will go far!

Clarification: I shoot in slog 3 on my a7IV, and I'm using a Ninja Flame monitor. When shooting in slog 3, do I use false color on the log footage to expose? (for example 70 IRE for skin) or should be uploading a rec709 conversion LUT THEN apply false colors to the conversion LUT to judge exposure values? (i.e 70 IRE for skin?)
@jaredfilms
@jaredfilms 3 ай бұрын
you always want to put false color on what you’re camera sees. Just if you’re not shooting log but e.g. rec.709 then that’s what your camera sees.

set a light 3D but there’s also cine tracer it’s cheaper but also find it too be less photometrically correct. Both advantages and disadvantages. It’s great to have both. For example can’t do exterior in ‘set a light’ but you have NDs which is great

@kshitijgajbhiye5261 you can shoot on anything and make it look "cinematic". But if it helps, my older videos where all shot on a flat profile and not cinema camera

Warning to people who want to climb Mont Blanc for the first time: Everything is wrong in this video. Don't take any risks in the high mountains. If you don't have experience, go up with a mountain guide along the "normal" route.

Sehr schöne Dokumentation! Da kamen Erinnerungen hoch an meine Mont Blanc Traverse 2010.

I’ve felt I struggled with exposure for the past 3 years on my channel. I was obsessed with getting skin tones at the 70-75 point and it was running my shots. Watching your first video was the first and only thing that gave me the confidence to expose skin tones lower to get a more balanced and pleasing image overall. It was a great video!
