Easy choice, if it’s a professional work and you get paid for shoots and videography, go for the r5 If you’re just a hobbyist and love taking stills/videos for your own memories and or uploading to social media, then the r6 mk2

Hey, Joel. Thanks for your informative and interesting video. I am still using my Canon 90D. And am contemplating upgrading to one of these two camera's you mention. Even though the price for the R5 has come down plenty. I'm feeling compared to the up to date modern technology. As in the R6II. A more attractive buy.

I like the no overheating feature. I am also a fan of the no IBIS. Both of those cost me dearly with the R6. So when it cooked itself and spent 2 months back at Canon I walked away from Canon as a video platform. But I do miss the R6 for the stills. The R looks like the best of both worlds at a discount.

Joel, you come over on camera very well I can't believe you only have 703 subs at this point but keep going my friend and they will come. So, I am a wedding photographer shoot R5 & R6 and R5II on order and have previously owned this lens but sold it. I have invested in 50mm and 85mm f1.2 and just about to pull the trigger on a 135mm f1.8mm. I also have a 15-35mm f2.8 but don't use it that much, but it's essential to have a wider lens for getting ready when the rooms are small. The reason I sold it was that it was not as sharp as the 50mm and especially the 85mm which is an amazing lens and this lens at 70 mm can't compete on image quality. That's not to say it's not good, but the two are not in the same league. This lens though has its place and I agree with you could shoot an entire wedding with one camera and this lens and you would get some great images. But to get some more unique images having f1.2 sets you apart. Having said all that I do miss the lens for events and other stuff I do so I am not ruling out re-buying it as it is extremely versatile and great to have if you want to just take one camera and one lens.

I love this lens! I shoot weddings and event with this lens. It has paid for itself many times over. It is a challenge to use all day for weddings. It is not stabilize so using it as a hybrid video kit does not work. I get really shaky footage using a R5 and R6m2. I shoot with a heavy and light set up I use an R6m2 with the 28-70mm for photos and a R5 with the 35mm 1.8 for video. This works well. Great review!!

r62 and r5 idk which to pick for hybrid shooting I shoot both pictures and video heavy special American football, I’ve seen both with the 500 different prices money it’s not the question but which one would you pick between this 2 cameras if you had to today !!

Sound sounds awesome

Sharpness is a product of the lens. Detail is a product of the sensor. The 45mps camera has more detail not sharpness.

I liked the video, I bought my R3 for 4k….no regrets…..I am actually buying a 2nd…..I don’t see the need to upgrade like a phone every 4 years…….the canon 5d mark iii is still a great camera….i think as long as you have cf express it doesn’t matter, bandh had a sale for a 512g card for $140….and 1 it’s really all you need to get by with in my opinion….i would actually buy 2-3 if your doing weddings to back it up….but I’m a wildlife shooter and the camera is fast and I love it….

I have the R5 and Ive owned the R6 and the R5 is better in every way than the R6ii except AF tracking. The R5 is a better hybrid Camera because of the 6 programmable mode switching.

I went with the 14-35mm f4 because I already have a 28-70 f2. I'd rather have a light lens that takes up minimal space in my bag for those few times I need to go wider than 28, and those few times are usually landscapes where I can crank down the shutter speed and get back those 2 stops

The R is the one camera that won’t fail you on the field

Rf lens is why most people go Sony route. You get what you pay for; for years to come! The only downside from the experience I had with the lens: my husband claims filming, the focal breathing(it makes electronic noises when auto focusing in a quiet room) other then that a great run and gun for wedding films before upgrading to a cinema lens! If not filming a great second shooting lens🫡

This was the first RF lens I bought when I got my R5. (Partly because it was the only one in stock at the time!) It's been a great lens and a solid purchase. Like you said, I'm glad it's not as heavy as my 28-70 F2. That thing is just stupid heavy!

The thinking behind having an SD card is that SD cards are more readily available and having some storage is better than non. I personally would have preferred two CF Express cards.
