Agree with you 100%. Sky Jump is a classic you may want just because it's a classic machine but as it doesn't payout and you can master it most of the time it does fall into the boring category. I can foresee if I had it, it would hardly ever get played. So, you hold two titles in my mind, champion of Sky Jump and if I remember correctly, champion of Conveyor. Look on the bright side, you can say you once owned one and now you have a vacant space waiting for another machine !

And I bet you would just wait for the moment when something worth winning? As a kid I would come home with £2 a day from the coin pushers, my pocket money for the week was a pound. Id just wait for the comptons coin pushers to have the tipping point ready and boom. I was also a dab hand on the Tutti Fruiti machines when all the win lines were ready.

Another superb example of a fairly rare machine, well I think it is rare as I never saw many of them about. In fact I know other than at auction I have never seen one. Especially one in such good condition. You did well there. Were they brought out to go against Bryan's Elevenses with one more winning cup ? Also the unique layout of the cups with the 2d's all together and the 6d at the end makes it in a class of it's own. As for the 3 holes, one can only assume someone thought whatever was there was to hamper your chances of the ball going into the end cup. Cannot see it was to give the player a better chance. Still, it's all part of the history of the machine albeit a little annoying it's there. One thing I personally don't like ,is the payout cup. Whilst it looks decorative, I wonder what made them decide to go with a design that you can't get your fingers in to obtain your winnings ? Never mind my thoughts, would anyone like it in their collection.........Of course they would. Thanks for another good video.

ive always had a fascination with penny arcade machines, i do want one but they are like £800 for one so im doing what i do best... build it out of lego and the viewing of the inside of the machines always help me make the mechanism inside the lego so i have a functioning lego penny arcade machine now and ive never been happier

What a difference this re film has made, much much better. Always a fascinating machine to me, more interested in watching the ball wizz around at the top than whether I won. ( Only machine that did this as I was only interested in how much I could win. ) This is another excellent example of a machine and a great find to add to your collection. Mentioned before that I was at a collectors home years ago when he suddenly showed me an Earth Satellite and offered it to me for £350. Why did I refuse ? Can only think it was because I always say No when put on a spot. Well, I was young and stupid then I suppose.Thank you for adding the payout side of the machine because I had no idea how it worked. Another interesting video and I have to say I've learnt something new !

Well Rob , it's very rare I can say that I have one of these as well , but I have ! As you say nothing fancy, just a bog standard allwin but the fact it's on a halfpenny makes it different from the others. Only remember one on our local fair and I played it a lot cos you got twice as many goes for your money. That's why I wanted one for memories sake. Waited quite a long time for one to turn up and when I got it home found that it had been altered to take new pennies. Luckily after spending hours chipping away at rock hard filler around the tube, it is now back as it was originally intended, on halfpenny. Yours looks identical to mine with the green instruction card and metal denomination badge above the coin entry. Good looking machine to enhance your collection. Once again thank you for sharing.

Well Rob, you've succeeded again in making a machine I have never played in making it really interesting with your video. Another I wish I had bought when I had the opportunities years ago. What a bonus to find all the pins intact. So many were adjusted shall we say by operators removing certain pins and thereby completely altering the game play. Challengers being great examples of this. This machine looks in really good condition and an enhancement to your collection. I am very impressed by the addition of the musical introduction. Superb job Rob.

I use to own one of these in the early 1990's, i got it from a showman's yard in Swindon Wiltshire when i was working on a travelling funfair and my gaffer and i went to collect some modern fruit machines for our travelling arcade. I later sold it along with some other 1980's awp's as a job lot. Wish i still had them now but storage and travelling meant this was difficult at the time. Good to see your video of the game 👍

Brilliant Rob, such dedication to sorting how to win! I remember being in Funland and going on the Rotor with my sister where you tried to win a ring with a moving arm that went across the revolving turntable, I noticed that the rings had accumalted in a cluster near the win section so when you played as long as you pushed the ring holder halfway it was pushed into the cluster and funneled into the win, we did this about 10 times on the trot until we run out of pennies but if you took the ring holders back to the cash desk he would give you your penny back for each holder returned, of course he knew then that there was something wrong and he moved the cluster back into the centre again so it was impossible to win. My sister often talks about that day, as you say great memories. Marc.

Well Rob did not know you had this, I was lucky to be a 10 year old in the early 60s when Peter Jackson was a young teenager. There was such fantastic machines in there a full size greyhound racing machine where the hare came round and started the dogs running, a shooting game firing at enemy planes that were on cine film, I was told that they were used at first to train real pilots in the war, also another shooting game where you fired torpedos at enemy ships it used a light that moved across the surface to simulate the torpedo moving.I remember talking to Peter many years later and he told me they had to scrap it as it was completely worn out and coud not be repaired anymore. My other memories of machines were the full size cowboy, jigsaw bagatelles, voice recording booth, traffic lights game, clocks, strength testers etc etc. I felt rather privlaged that I had met Peters father and Peters fathers mother who also worked there on the Jigsaw island as they called it then, absolutely great machines, I spent many happy hours in there much to my Mum and Dads dismay, I wish you all could have been there with me to see it! Best wishes to all.

I kind of wish this mechanism had an industry-wide name that everyone agreed on. :) The most common game like this is Groetchen's version, Skill Jump, from 1939. The earliest game I've ever found that uses this mechanism is a German game, Bomber by Elfriede Jebens in 1936

All the years I have seen a Sky Jump Machine, this is the very first time i have seen one played. I know why I never played one as there is no cup for a coin to collect any winnings. As a schoolboy at our local fair there was only one Sky Jump in the whole fair. ( There were 4 arcades ) and I can honestly say I never saw anyone play it. I can see from your great video that it has the attraction somewhat like a Payramid. Once you start it can be addictive although a lot better when it's your machine and it cost nothing to play. A simple idea with virtually nothing to go wrong. Thanks for an informative video and it has only taken me 68 years to find out the playing of a Sky Jump.

I've actually come back to this video for a good reason. I want to make one. It must be one of the simplest (and yet fun) arcade games ever made as it uses no moving parts as such. What foxed me was the tipping mechanism and then it dawned on me. Went to my box of odds and ends, took a spring and threaded a bolt into one end. Aha! Without looking, I bet thats how those skittles are fixed. Some nice graphics, two sheets of perspex, a mirror, some lights and a row of springs. Am I right?
