This an great example of an stock/oem look but everything fully upgraded. Def good reference for my 99 Limited I just got. Awesome build

@@sapclan2896 thank you! That was exactly my intent with it. I didn’t want to disturb the body lines and design that, in my opinion, Toyota got perfect. But I still wanted to tap into the capability side while keeping that. Sort of a “sleeper” off-road build. Good luck with the 99, enjoy!

As Napoleon would say; “I like it a lot”! I have a 1998 4Runner, 4 cylinder, automatic, rear wheel drive. I put factory 17” take off wheels from a 2020 4Runner on mine with no rubbing. With the exception of on a hard left turn the back of front left (drivers side)?tire ever so slightly touches the factory mud Gaurd. Other than that zero rubbing.

I’m sorry did you say 4th gen 4Runner oil pan? Like the 2uz upper and lower front sump pan fits?
@4funner668 ай бұрын
Yes, or LC100 4x4 2UZ also, both will go with no body lift. Body lift makes it easier though. They are sort of a more shallow mid sump than a traditional front sump like an ls400. Will need upper and lower pans, baffles, pick up tube, dipstick and hardware

@nathanr2511 ай бұрын
That truck is SUPER clean! That's the cleanest 4runner I have EVER SEEN!!! I'm runnin a 97 4runner SR5 4x4 with 180k miles! Yours is way cleaner! I have done a bit of work to mine but really minor things compared to this. Replaced the gold badges on it because they were corroded to the silver badges, repainted the lift gate trim near the latch, got a different hitch from the junk yard and completely refurbished it, got TRD off road tacoma wheels, new center console lid, new lights for my climate controls, installed an OEM roof-rack, installed an OEM spoiler, and did a little rust clean and touch up OEM paint work to that rust on the lift gate. My truck has a major OEM chrome and black theme to it thanks to the trim and trd wheels and I LOVE IT!

@heatmyzer9 Жыл бұрын
You doing anything for the transmission?
@4funner66 Жыл бұрын
Current plan is to build a r150F 5speed manual with Marlin parts. Should be fairly tough. The concerning part of that is the chain driven transfer case which may end up being the weakest link. It’ll be a temporary setup transmission-wise: Would love to eventually solid axle swap the truck and run an r151 with dual gear driven cases, passenger drop. But first just want to get things running here. Transmission has been a big struggle for me mentally. Would like to keep it all toyota if I can

I was considering a rear/remote mounted turbo for my 98 4Runner. I’ll wait for this build to decide. Sub’d and thank you for posting.

Was planning on building a 1uzfe but could not find any proof that they actually can make that type of power. Everywhere i see people rate them at 350 even with a power adder
@4funner66 Жыл бұрын
That’s likely thin rod engines on super low boost, like 5psi and limited supporting mods. If you’ve got FB, head over to “1uz, 2UZ and 3uz forced induction technical” page. Plenty of 1k+ whp examples.

I’m thinking about swapping my 3rd gen but I see all this information about autos and mine is 5 speed. I seen in the last video that you’re going with a 5 speed aswell. Do you know how much modifications you need to mate the transmission
@4funner66 Жыл бұрын
Hey Cesar, the 5 speed route really simplifies things. No transmission ecu to worry about etc. You can use any R-Series manual transmission (also w series, but it’s weaker). Just need a 1uz:r series bell housing, and a clutch kit / adaptor setup from a place like XAT Racing
