This is not a good idea - - - Use a proper dark brown Aulos or Yamaha descant decent standard of recorder instead of that nasty out of tune instrument which is doing your child no favours. Worse still that cheap plastic thing may be encouraging the false idea that the descant recorder is a "toy" for children - a very false lie. Encourage your child to listen to some wonderful professional recorder players eg Lucie Horsch or Sarah Jeffery and then if your child falls in love with its unique beautiful sound (when in the right hands) by all means study it as your woodwind choice... But be extremely careful to at least give the child a proper chance to be musical and develop her technique properly by searching online and finding your nearest professional recorder tutor... Keep strictly away from self taught amateurs who think that it is enough to know "which finger to put down" or worse still tell your child to "blow" into the instrument.. In the end, however, there is absolutely no guarantee a parent does what is best - even when his eyes have been opened!
