I know that barbed hooks are not great for catch and release, but after a day like that, I'd be considering using them. Beautiful country
@onymphs8 күн бұрын
I know, in my madness I was thinking about that too(even treble nymphs haha), but I didn't have any smaller barbed flies on me. I even asked about what I could be doing wrong from a local fisherman, and he said that even with barbed hooks, if you are not focused enough to set the hook at the right time, this will happen a lot. Thanks for watching!

Uh oh! Seems like there are some quality issues with this short. Since my editing software updated this seems to be the case, but I'm trying to solve it. So this one pattern was one of my most effective ones on the Somesul Cald. It imitates a small mayfly nymph when wet. By the way you can check out my adventure on my channel. Thanks for watching!

Good idea to show the fly’s profile when ‘wet’…simple to tie but a very effective style of pattern, especially for river fishing…thanks

Yes it is a very clean river section ,full of wildlife,not far from the spring source. On the lower sections you can encounter stocked trout and more chubs and nase too(as I heard). I really fell in love with the place so I am planning to go back this summer. Thanks for watching!

@onymphs3 ай бұрын
I make my own from tapered shock leader. I just measure the diameter at the thinner end with a digital caliper to be at the desired thickness ( in this case it was at 0,18ish I think) and then I tie a tippet ring on it. I am planning of making a video about deep river nymphing in the future.

I'm pretty impressed with this technique. Is it new? Looks great, I'll certainly give it a try. Just a personal thing, but I would move the whole dressing a tiny bit back down the hook. It's getting pretty crowded towards the eye. Maybe it's just me, I get uncomfortable if I get near the eye, and I'm running out of room to tie stuff securely and make a decent whip-finish.
