I think the suit we are seeing is Kryptonian and more like battle armor, but as he deals with his heritage and being on Earth, he’ll adopt the classic suit and emblem. It’ll be like a transition to his human life while honoring his alien side as well, mashing the two together.

I actually like the slight baggyness of the suit, it makes it feel more like casual clothing rather than armor.

Wearing the trunks washes away the dark grimey terrible Snyderverse. It's not a good thing but a great thing.

It's a common trend in recent super hero movies to find some way to justify the characters costume as just being a byproduct of their powers somehow. The most obvious answer being ironman but they extend this to a lot of other characters like captain america, Daredevil, Antman, black widow, falcon etc. In marvel specifically there are not a lot of characters who wear costumes just for the sake of it and that seems to be the case with all the other heroes we have to some degree. Mr. Terrific, technically a costume but also it's all presumably tech and also still just a leather jacket for the most part. Metamorpho, costume is just his powers Guy Gardner, costume is his uniform/ring construct and also the least spandexy of all the green lanterns. Hawk Woman, her costume is armor and often also the source of her power to some degree. So I wouldn't say it's a stretch to juxtapose that to superman wearing tights for the sake of it. I'm only a little less sold on the idea of multiple suits because if that was the case I assume this suit would be a bit darker and possibly not have trunks to sell the difference even more. Idk maybe it doesn't want to look like an intentional dig at Snyder.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get an origin for the suit in the movie but if we do I'd bet it's Krypton suit with his blanket added on as a cape by his mom

Interestingly if you look at the evolution of Tyler Hoechlin's suit. his first suit it had a problem with the chest scrunching in the front when he put his arms forward to fly and then the next version of it had the collar to prevent that so I'm wondering if that's how we got here.

Never liked the shorts/undees but they made it work. Also I’m pretty sure the Kent’s were able to deconstruct and recreate the fabric just by pulling on a loose thread… for a while. Still prefer Cavil’s suit but that may be subject to change

Even if there are thibgs that arent as accurate or not looking good enough it can always be changed in the next movie, we got to kinda expect it since marvel too so i wouldnt be surprised if in the next movie supes in his costume chsnges

man imagine getting some form of the justice league (whether its JLI, JLA, etc) from THESE costume designers !! i think the colors and vibrancy would even give GOTG a run for its money. the characters i wanna see most in costume now are Booster Gold, Martian manhunter, Guy Gardner, and Mister Miracle

People have been so conditioned to not engage with anything that isn’t “realistic” or doesn’t fit their very specific view of what art should be, and they will try to convince you somehow this makes them superior. The suit looks bright and fun and goofy and that is an extremely good thing.

In the context of armor I believe the little things that stick out over the backs of the hands are called "demi-gaunts". Usually they would be made of flat metal and worn over mail gauntlets to offer more protection than the mail alone from that one direction.

Great the Cape and the colours! Horrible the rest of the suit, super baggy, David trained his ass off and don't show his effort, the collar is horrendous... I hope that the story is great and I know that David will be a fantastic Superman/Clark Kent, but visually this suit I'm not impressed.... Maybe we going to have another one more classic style! I'm a Superman fan and I truly want to this film be a success..

After the bagginess is fixed in post, I think this suit will look perfect. Love the material and texture, love the collar, love the back of the hand bit, love the coloring--It's perfect. I don't want a simpler costume, personally. I want my superheroes to look like they're wearing something that will stand up to a battle flying through the sky. I don't want something that looks like pajamas.
