I love this scene but I always wondered how she slipped the poison in with no one watching. She’s clearly very clever and stealthy! It’s also such a risk. If she had been caught pouring it in, her life would be forfeit and who knows what could happen to Margery and her house. Yet she was still willing to take the risk. She is not just the queen of thorns, she is the queen of steel nerves lol.

This seems like a HUGE stretch. Where would you be able to hide anything on a necklace like that? It's not like it's a locket. And even if it were a locket Olenna would have had to open the thing, take the poison out, and close it again without anyone noticing. We saw none of that in this video. In this video all she did was made a plucking motion close to the necklace as if she were removing a lose hair off Sansa's dress. I highly doubt there was a vial of poison loosely hanging off the necklace in plain view. Not everything leading up to the poisoning is poison related.

They wanted Sansa to wear a necklace with a poison vial for all to see, so later, when the necklace was found on the fool/knight's body, the assumption would be Sansa did it. Neither Olenna nor Littlefinger wanted Sansa dead. They wanted her separated from the Lannisters because as the heir to the North, she was valuable. And if Tyrion ended up dead after being executed for the crime (on the assumption husband and wife plotted it, they both despised Joffrey) all the better, since now she could be married off in an alliance that would undercut the Lannisters

Never made sense to me why the vial was in Sansa's necklace. Olenna could have just walked in with it in her pocket, just as easily.
@user-ub3tn7er1k29 күн бұрын
It was a way to ensure that Sansa would be under their control, away from the Lannisters, and wouldn't dare go back to them (as far as Olenna and Littlefinger knew, she might be emotionally attacked to Tyrion, who the heck knows). Plus they needed Tyrion dead so the widow Sansa, heir to the North, could be free to marry someone else in an alliance that would undercut the Lannisters. Everyone would assume that Tyrion put Sansa up to it. She's just an innocent girl and he's a scheming monster of a dwarf who has threatened the king publicly. Even if Tyrion and Joffrey hadn't gotten into another squabble right before his death, there was plenty of ammo against Tyrion before that.

It is not a vial. It is a poisonous crystal called the Strangler. It is created by pickling the leaves of a certain plant and mixing it with spices and leaving overnight. The water crystallizes and thats what is used.

I imagine she grew affectionately close to Sansa only for the express excuse that Sansa would not find it odd that Olenna doted in her, played with her hair, and easily stole something off her necklace. Olenna was playing 4D chess out here.

Couldn’t Olenna just have hidden the vial in her clothing? I never understood why she had to plant it and then take it from Sansa?

In case they were searched, she was potentially sacrificing Sansa, and if caught with the poison Sansa would doom Tyrion because he would be suspect number. Either way a win for Olena
@user-ub3tn7er1k29 күн бұрын
@@oddchild1 Nobody's going to search exhaled guests at a royal wedding! They wanted to make sure Sansa would be on their side and under their control with the necklace as the evidence that everyone at the wedding saw. Plus who'd think Sansa would plan a poisoning on her own, she's a 14 year old shy girl. They'd assume Tyrion was behind it or at least involved. He gets executed and Olenna and Littlefinger have a widow under their control who is heir to the North and now can be married off in an alliance beneficial to them. If Sansa had died, it would have undermined their plan. But they already had a plan to get her out of danger fast.

Tyrion’s insecure “Hello” is so depressing after Oberyn greets the ‘nice view’. Of course he doesn’t expect any attention at a social setting, and the best he could hope for is pushing through unseen. So he walks it off realizing Oberyn is toying with him or it’s just in his head. He has no idea that this man is the only nobleman who doesn’t see him as a monster.

@Loopholez913 ай бұрын
Kind of makes you wonder if the Tyrell’s would back the Starks. The way she told Sansa that she would be protected in Highgarden. And if that happened. And Sansa and Tyrion went to Highgarden. Would they really have been safe? Or would Tywin go after the Tyrell’s then? The way they all played it was perfectly. I love how Littlefinger and Verys were both talking about the Iron Throne. And their upcoming’s and how far they have come to the Iron Throne and how each one wanted it. Although I don’t think Verys would’ve actually wanted it. Like he said himself he wanted real peace throughout the 7 Kingdoms. And wanted to serve a ruler who was just and honorable.

So the next question is when did she put it in the cup and was the cup empty or full at the time she did it? Didn't he get it filled at some point with wine? That would be quite the risk of being discovered if the cup was empty at some point before the wine was poured.

This is so stupid. Why even need to put the poison there when she is roaming around the wedding
@UnsettlingSun4 ай бұрын
Alot of the most powerful players in politics throughout history tended to be women. But history likely never saw that since their survival depended on not getting that attention. What they would do is use some of the famous men history remembers as their marionette. Cleopatra herself bamboozled both Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, two of the greatest generals in Roman history. She only lost with the third one, Octavian, because he was more into incest wincest with his sis, and was extremely politically savvy despite his young age.

I wondered the same thing, and the more I thought about it, the more I realize it was to remove suspicion that it was Olenna or Margery because Sansa was the one wearing the necklace. If anyone ever found the vial, they would match it to the jewels that she was wearing.
@lastchips7638Ай бұрын
@@Leelz247 Except the strangler is not a fluid in a vial, the poison becomes a crystal during production Your theory might still apply though, just in another way: If the strangler always looks somewhat similiar when crystallized, then whod be more suspicious than the girl who wore a necklace looking precisely like these crystals? One shouldnt make the mistake to think Olenna actually cared about Sansas wellbeing, she likely was just a pawn in her tactic, to make her granddaughter a powerful queen (which she wouldnt have been with Joffrey, but at the time would have been with Tommen)
