The best part is Michigan has only themselves to blame. No controversial penalties or conspiracy theories to use as excuses. A low snap and a failure to cover the ball.

The only thing I can think of is Jalen Watts-Jackson being in probably what is the most agonizing pain you could ever experience because he broke his hip them his entire team kept jumping on him.

The ol' Schembeckler Buckler. At least this was a national TV humiliation, not like Baylor's Sep 11, 1999 last-play loss designed by their first-year coach Kevin Steele, who wanted to 'teach a winner's attitude' by scoring a cheap, last-second touchdown against lousy UNLV. Instead, the Rebels ran back the RB's fumble 97 years for the game winning TD as the gun sounded. Coach Steele took his lesson to heart, getting Baylor lose more games by 50-points-or-more (14) than total wins (9, including three of Div-II squads). Great coaching shows up.

I’m an Alabama fan and even though I have bad memories of our own kick six, I still come back to this once in a while if for no other reason just to see the hang dog look on Jimbo Fisher’s face

I give props to the announcer (Sean McDonough if I remember correctly). Instead of blathering on and on after one of the most improbable finishes in college football history, he lets the images speak.

It’s crazy because at that point you gotta just drop on the ball and cover it. State had no timeouts left and less than 10 seconds on the clock on Michigan’s 40 yard line. They would have to throw a deep Hail Mary with about 7 seconds left or a kick a long field goal. Or maybe run one quick play to get out of bounds and hope for a closer field goal. I’ll never forget being at work and everyone was either cheering or silent. 😂 as a Michigan fan I couldn’t believe wtf I just witnessed.

They had more replays of this, and you can see Watts Jackson literally catches the ball with one hand way over on the outside of his thigh and hip. It was just an incredible lucky talented play that was just meant to be. Harbaugh thought hey we're finally back! Not so fast my friend! I'm not sure if Watts Jackson graduated or what he's doing professionally now in 2024, but he can be assured that for the next hundred years or more people are going to be watching this play at the College Football Hall of Fame and of course at the Spartan displays in East lansing. One of the greatest college football endings right up there with of course the Cal Bears and the band.
