I was enjoying this video, thinking how refreshing it is to consume informative, factual commentary on Ukraine. I went to comments, to see what kind of opinions might be on offer 😮 .... Being a bit stoned, I read the top/ first comment amd agreed with the comment, gave it a 'like' - I glanced at the top and realised that I'd liked my own comment amd that I had already seen the video years ago 😠. It was worth walking twice. An uodated / part 2 video on Russia & Ukraine would be timely and gratefully received.

So it would just be a Trotskyist planned economy with the efficiency of RESOURCE ALLOCATION of free markets, but the economy is the production of what people demand, and the knowledge problem of knowing the ranking of future demands is not viable, as F. A. Hayek said. Imagine this, people choose more salad burgers, so the computer upgrades the crops to grow more salad, but then people stop wanting salad, so the computer switches back, repeating the problem. In capitalism, since people profit by being the most efficient at meeting consumers' needs for resources, the best companies will expand and the others will go bankrupt. But in an automated socialist economy, what will ensure that the best computers or codes will be used the most? If it's programmers, politicians, and workers who regulate, there are still the same original problems of central planning that prevented its implementation in real life, and if it's competition, it's just a capitalist market controlled by computer robots, but with coercion and collectivist ethics that are unethical and immoral. So, it's better to just use Free market.

Such a system could never be implemented simply because it would distrupt the corruption permeating each layer of Soviet society: from the factory worker skimming work materials for home repair, the manager selling factory produce at the black market for profit, the director falsifying output quotas to secure his cqreer, the party commitee setting unrealistic goals based on already falsified reports, all the way up to the Kremlin where politicians secure the loyalt and support of party members by allowing them to practice corruption which then tickes back down all the way to the simole factory worker skimming materials to do home repairs. A fully automated system would inevitably crumble in such conditions as its precise calculations would always be thrown off by the "human factor"

Total stupidity! A plan economy (never mind man controlled or machine controlled) could only work if you plan individually for every citizen of the state! It's no glory sheet for the soviet economists that they were not able to criticise and fix this stupid idea of Marx of a plan-economy.
