I had not heard of any of these movies until watching this. Shortly after seeing this video, I went and watched the 1939 movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love the design of the mask, like he said, it reminds me of metropolis. I think it would be cool to get a replica mask myself.

Very beautiful work! I love bronze armour. Of course the Iliad describes the armour they wore as polished and shining in the sunlight. Since you do not have hoards of slaves and captives to do the polishing I guess you have to make due. You are an extremely skilled gentleman and being Greek I have a particular partiality for this armour style although I personally coudn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag.

"Hoplon"- Όπλο both in modern greek and ancient greek means the arms and weapons of a soldier. And "Hoplite" - Οπλιτης means the one who carries arms, weapons In modern Greek, we call soldiers like that. Also, a spear in greek is still called a "dory" - δόρυ and a sword still call "xiphos" - ξυφος.

Heya Rob. Been a while. Not that I am not mesmerized by your wizard-like sheet metal work, but I am pleased to see you have not abandoned big steel altogether. Question for you: I note there is a slot along the length of one of your drifts (1m45s). Is there a purpose to this or was this simply the stock you used to forge the drift?

So I have to say that was a very very interesting way to approach making those Harpoon point finials I feel like I've actually learned something new and it also makes me think that I could maybe do that using lawn mower blades that lawn maintenance companies get rid of by the Box load just hot cut the the larger portion of what is not needed off and then cut down half of that eye and proceed exactly the way you did in forging out the taper and the bevel endpoint of course thank you very much for your video is a very very helpful and I'm still waiting for your favorite bands and you know thoughts and favorites death metal and metal Styles and bands video

Love your work as always. My understanding of the gladiator amour is that there where too balance the fights each armour had its pros and deliberate cons and fighting styles, so to keep the fights entertaining each fighters had different disadvantages to fight against in their own kit and where set against fighters who didn’t have the same disadvantage.

This was a cool video as I am new to your channel. Really liked the mannor in which you presented your work and thought process. On the lions head and mane, great detail and I have seen some with a serios curl at the top, especially that leading edge that seemed to get under the helmet. im sure ill have a deep dive your vids!

You don't need to get cut. Historically, they would have had the body fat as organic spaced armour over the vitals.

Very nice piece. I’m always amazed at what you can hammer out. I was a little surprised you opted to turn the Lion’s mane out (convex) instead it keeping it concave. Aesthetically, this would have mimicked how the mane falls on an actual lion’s head, and functionally it would have followed the natural curvature of the shoulder, which should minimize or eliminated interference with your helmet. A rounded surface for the shoulder guard should also better deflect the opponent’s weapon and minimize catch points. Unless by turning the mane out you were intending to provide a neck-guard for some portion of your neck? How would a neck-guard typically be accounted for in that if armor? With the helmet? With the shoulder guard? A separate piece , or not at all? I would be interested to hear your thoughts in the nerd-follow-up.
