I know this is a 5yr old video, but I wanted to share some preventative maintenance tip that will save headachs for anyone installing this kit from chasing lighting problems down the road. 1st when you drill your grounding hole thoroughly remove the corrosion from the surface that the eyelet will make contact with, apply di-electric grease to the area and the screw, then for added protection apply an electrical sealant to the area to prevent water intrusion and prevent the return of corrosion. Also it would be wise to apply the grease to the plug connections. A good electrical ground is paramount for a correctly working electrical system.

Very helpful, especially emphasis on process to remove fan assembly from bottom, rather than conventional top. (....thanks, GM.... darned brilliant engineers.) Thank you for posting.

Thank you so much! Not mich i can say that hasn’t been said already. I also have a 2014 captiva but my mechanism with the yellow plunger needs to be pushed to get the key out. Hopefully that helps anyone wondering about that!

Thanks for the video. It was a big help. I would add though that if you pull off the weatherstrip from the top of the radiator it helps with unhooking and rehooking the corner that catches the top of the radiator.

I know now why they didn't put those 3 screws in on the bottom of the cover. I had to throw away those 3 screws and just use the outside 2 that are sheet metal. Those 3 screws that are missing the threads just go bad. A person could just use sheet metal screws if he wants, but they are not necessary. They don't go in straight either, they go in at an angle too, which makes no sense at all,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So normally there's just a small bit of plastic preventing the wheel from locking while you drive? Seems dangerous given that plastic bushings always fail on cars within 10 years.

You should have taken the Hub caps off the back wheels if they were also pushing the string out, otherwise you weren't square and were getting false readings from the string...

I had this exact problem with my 2012 Chevy Captiva. Since I was still under the 30 day warranty, I took it to the Chevy dealership I bought it at. It seems the culprit was the shifter assembly, which needs to be completely replaced
