Doesn't Auto zone require the container ? Or they have their own containers that you pour in the oil ?
@DWraysGarage
@DWraysGarage Сағат бұрын
By me, the main street auto supply stores pour out the oil into their own large containers and return the bottle/container/oil catch box. Not necessarily true everywhere but seems to be here in AZ.

hello 2024, Do you still own it? can you do a update on the cost these years?
@DWraysGarage
@DWraysGarage 17 күн бұрын
While I do not own the vehicle anymore, I did sell it to a close friend. Besides oil changes there have been no special expenditures. Since the 12 month mark, before I sold it, I did replace the brake fluid ($50 plus use of filler I owned already), replaced the intake seals while cleaning the valves ($40). This thing is now a hair over 50k miles and I would argue it runs better than ever with every mod performed only adding to the experience and ride. I'd buy it back if he'd let me!

Technical aspect for those who don't know why the flat washers are under the screw heads is the friction force is not put on the the structure, just the clamping load, so the structure doesn't crack easily. The gauge faces look good.

I just realized that the o-ring from ox254 D4 is a bit smaller than the oem one. The oem one is 96x4.5mm and this one is 91x4mm. Not sure if it will leak or not, I will just buy the o-ring from the dealer to be sure.

Brave man. I also got the red gauge faces for my 987.2, but I payed the dealership to do the deed since I've broken things on the Porsche before trying the DIY path. Mostly my fault since I didn't do enough research on the job I attempted. Liking this because we need more owners like you sharing the knowledge. Thanks!

I can see where people would opt for help - honestly most of the things I do are easier (than you think) to tackle when someone leads the way. I love a good challenge and the fear factor gives me quite the thrill - until I reach that white flag moment, of course! For grins, would you be comfortable sharing what you paid for the tach(s) and the install? Usually, my time value of money is easy math when I hear the full weight of the Porsche tax. 😂
@DC5Brandon
@DC5Brandon Ай бұрын
@@DWraysGarage FVD Gauge faces (3) ~$700 + ~$1200 to install, but that also included red seat belt install (which I waited a whole year to get from Germany!) Honestly, I didn't expect them to do it since the gauge face was not OEM and expected the labor to be twice that amount, so I was somewhat relieved.

Sadly the glue I used did not hold up to the test of time. I believe the method would work if there were a fabric glue able to hold up to the stresses of that piece and other environmental factors. I did go back to Rennlist with this update but not here so thanks for asking…

Whats your feeling of the reliability of the cobb tune? Do you feel that it damaged the engine? Did you modify other stuff on it to make sure it was safe? Looking for a cobb tune on my turbo 2015!
@DWraysGarage
@DWraysGarage 2 ай бұрын
I have no cause to think the tune did anything harmful to the Turbo’s motor. I had the F6 MSports tune out on mine to optimize the adjustment for my mods and for my data logging analytics that I sent to them. It was a pretty light Stage 1+ that was on there and by no means do I think out the engine outside of parameters. It never gave me a hard time on any front either. D

Do the intake ducts actually make a difference? The bottleneck for airflow is still the ducting in the hood, which is still blocked by a large segment in the middle.

How did you compress it by hand with a string? Maybe yours was used and lost it's strength. But the new one I got (from the Amazon link you provided) would not compress by hand. Because it is rated for 150lbs and requires either my full body weight or a tool to compress it. I screwed the strut into place. Then, I used a 12" 300 lb trigger clamp to compress it. Then, I pushed it out of the clamp and into the slot by hand. Pretty easy. The hard part was figuring out how to apply the clamp. Because there isn't enough room to get the clamp behind the metal bar that the strut screws into. But there's a simple solution. 1) open the armrest, 2) remove the end piece of the clamp, 2) place the clamp in the armrest storage bin, 3) feed the clamp bar through the opening between the two hinges of the armrest, 4) put the end piece of clamp back on the clamp. Now the front of the clamp presses against the back wall of the storage bin and the end piece of the clamp presses against the end of the strut body. You have to position the strut body at the very edge of the clamp. This enables little effort to push the strut out of the clamp and into the slot.

Battery voltage is sitting at 11.7v... could this be the issue? Does it need 12 volts to start up? it cranks over fine but no spark to start the engine.
