This was incredibly helpful! I'm a doll-like romantic type and as I am deeply in middle age as a mother and business owner, I was feeling really frustrated and lost about what to wear that could complement my essence but fit my stage of life. The tips about low contrast hair color, and suiting, or the way that reflective textiles like velvet and shimmer can be interpreted in masculine silhouettes. Absolutely genius! Honestly, I thought I was doomed to wear shoulder poofs and tulle skirts for the rest of my life! (Just kidding, I still love shoulder poofs)

Whoa!!! I just commented on another video, saying how I’ve frequently been tempted to buy such feminine or flowy pieces but I always end up feeling “syrupy.” When you said “saccharine” that really resonated with me!

3:01 for me,the "worst" outfit was the first and the second worst is the third. The blouse in the midle is more "flattering bcs the neckline is wide. I think the problem is that beside not matching with your body,your face is very yang,and the lines of the 1 and 3 are ingenue[small cute details,light colors] and (I know doesnt exist in kibbe) and your face...mmm don't match. In the teatrical romantic lines the first outfit is off bcs has a narrow neckline and again, don't match your face,the 2 is +/- is not the best but not that bad; this a good way for someone decide if they are tr or sn, if you look broad with a narrow neckline, prob you are sn. 3 outfit is ... not that bad actualy, but the neckline looks too dharp for you and the color too heavy;the 4 outfit I really liked,at least in your body,but again,don't match with the face. I think is more for a dramatic with a yin face use feminine clothes and not look that bad than a romantic with yang face use feminine clothes.

Soft gamine all day. You definitely need contrast. Color blocking looks fantastic. I think most people are a mix of 2-4 types. Best thing is to classify your parents and then compare to what you think you are. My mom is a soft natural and my father is some type of gamine. I’m a mix of both!

The SG outfits make me feel like I know you personally and the TR outfits make me feel like you are a person I’m watching on youtube if that makes sense. I think your personality really shines through in the Gamine lines. I’m just learning about kibble body types and as someone who tends toward genderfluid but I’m almost always fem presenting this has been so helpful! I think I’m TR but might have some gamine as well. I wasn’t sure how to incorporate the elements without feeling too fem. I feel so confused about dress the right one makes me feel beautiful but sometimes I just can wear them. Your videos have really helped me understand better what’s yin or yang and how to balance them.

As someone with a theatrical romantic body type and a VERY 'Masculine' clothing style, I honestly never really had many problems. As long as I add sharp waist definition and don't wear overly baggy or stiff clothes it looks amazing. There is a middle ground trust me. Just adding one masc element like maybe a leather jacket, some tough boots and coat really adds the effect to any romantic outfit.

Definitely gamine! I didn't watch the whole video just the first part. But. The 'romantic' tops are too yin on you - you don't actually look feminine in them because you're not quite yin enough. I'm 99% sure I'm a (soft) gamine and I, too, look super cute in a high neckline. A button-down shirt buttoned all the way up actually looks cute, and I look feminine in it! You have to balance it with hair and makeup - now your hair is really short, so it's a bit on the yang side, BUT you can part it on the side (gamine) and then add feminine elements like jewelry and makeup. When I had a pixie cut, I found that dangle earrings were the perfect pairing with the short hair (AND you could really see them, unlike with long hair!) You look a lot like me with a rounder jaw, I have more square jaw - but I think soft gamine fits for me, and for you. You look really cute with the high necklines and the cuffed pants (which are gamine!). In the gamines, you look like yourself - in the romantics you look like you're trying to dress up. Hope it helps!

You are a very good communicator. Not only do you know style very well, but you also know how to properly explain it to people in a very easy to understand manner. Not so easy to do btw. I hope your channel does very well if that's the goal and be sure to take breaks as needed. I deal with anxiety too and I think you're very brave to continue to put yourself out there for public consumption. Well wishes to you and God bless!

This was so helpful! Thank you! I'm a romantic who recently gained a lot of weight, so I've been going for some soft natural styles that have no waist emphasis and are more drapey. I look like I'm swimming in them, but I don't want to wear tight clothes. 😭
@ellem8990
@ellem8990 Ай бұрын
Perhaps there's a middle ground? It sounds like you just went from one extreme to another, tight to lose with no waist emphasis. There are plenty shirts and dresses that aren't skin hugging, but they do have some waist emphasis (so no box cuts). Perhaps a slightly loose shorter shirt that flares out a bit from the waist and with a lower neckline? I have a very specific image in my head and I do not mean one of those 2010 peplum shirts, those are more figure hugging and the flare is more extreme. Also choosing the fabric carefully helps, so nothing too stiff. Even if it's a shirt with a more loose cut, having a more flowy fabric with some weight helps with some movement and curve hugging (I hope I described that well enough). There are plenty other ways to not swim in fabric, like doing a french tuck with a loose shirt, but it would take forever to list all possibilities. I don't know if that helped at all.

I think a lot of these concepts apply to male characters as well, although with some differences. “Natural” male characters are usually more valued than “romantic” ones… EVEN THOUGH they both pass the same concepts as the natural and romantic female characters. What do I mean by that? It’s that… a laid back chill dude is seen as cool and nice, but also strong, while a small and romantic male character will most likely be perceived as fragile and naive, which for a man is not considered ideal traits (socially). However the difference between sharp x soft and evil x good is pretty consistent in male roles as well. Look at Scar x Mufasa, Hercules x Hades, Jafar x Aladdin, even Prince Hans x Kristoff! That’s also present in the selection of actors for some roles, like how Alan Rickman was mostly chosen to play villains. And even when Benedict Cumberbach play heroes they are usually arrogant and kinda narcissistic (like Doctor Strange and Sherlock). About gamines, same thing, I think it’s very difficult to imagine Martin Freeman playing an villain role, and all of his characters are kinda quirky in some way, even if slightly. Also they will never be perceived as the sexiest character in the room. A lot of these has to do with the teachings in “character creation”. They literally teach us abou “the power of shapes” to convey inner character traits of the characters. So… like… inverted triangles (super sharp) convey instability and danger, they reminds us of dangerous things like claws, sharp teeth, knives, spikes, etc, great for villains. Circles (soft) conveys safety, softness, etc, so great for naive characters. Squares are linked to stability, so they are great for close minded characters (like Carl from Up!) or grounded but not extraordinary characters (like Pacha, from Emperor’s New Groove). You can also see this being applied in Gru (despicable me) which presents both extremely sharp features (making him look like a villain), but also round and wide features (showing that he has a soft and caring side).

I'm sure about myself being a soft classic, but starting to believe I may have gamine essence. I feel like classic with a romantic undercurrent was such a comfort zone to me, but before Kibbe I loved wearing small contrasting square patterns, chunky shoes, unique, bright accessories that weren't too bulky, and this one cropped red flannel in a medium light fabric. But I also can not wear large colorblocking, pixie or blunt cuts, mixed patterns, or the short hemline+high neck combo. It feels like a very difficult combination to work with.

Thank you that was refreshing. I like to be a chameleon at times even if I do identify with the super feminine lines. I actually follow the PSC and Kitcher's style moreso than Kibbe. I like to point out that the oversized outfits you displayed most likey tend to work due to Romatics previously being drapy vs now. I like you showed edgy and other looks because sometimes I need a visual reminder of how I would pull it together.

While I love and agree with the commentary, the outfits don't really speak Romantic at all - I think the first issue is starting with thick-material jeans haha... If we wear jeans, it's the skinny kind with the most stretch you can get. Anything else will make me feel bloated and gross and no matter how big or small the jeans are, *I* feel big in them. Then goes the tops; they have sharp necklines and harsh contrast to the skin and your jean color, taking it away from the softness of 100% yin. The mock-neck is also filled with a too-tight neckline, straight knit texture and.. yeah. With an open, draped neck it would be something more Romantic-fitting. Soo, I'd say, yes, with these examples, the Soft Gamine fits you so much more, haha. But I'd recommend still trying out some full yin outfits (say, candy colored lace tops or super intricate open neckline mohair sweaters etc, paired with a thinner fabric pants or a satin mermaid skirt), to see even more how that goes with your lines. I think your face reads very soft and rounded when in the SG lines - so it's personable and fun for you to wear, but it's not exactly "as God made you" kind of a deal, if you get what I mean. But hey, it is incredibly tricky to find Romantic-fitting clothes in today's fashion world - it seems like no matter how I try, all clothing pieces have some sort of yang-element to them, and in need of some tailoring to be truly fitting for my lines. We are the only 100% yin body ID after all - the fashion industry does not really need to cater to us to make money </3

4:52 this is literal perfection I always struggle to see some of the bones definition when there is a lot of flesh on top so as a fellow educator (not fashion) well well done!!! Is it possible to be smack in the middle of your chart/Infograph? I’m not 100% blended but not extreme yin and Yang. I can pull off both SG and SN lines as long as I blend those 2 types. If I’m wearing head to toe lines I looked unbalanced.

Thank you for making this video and putting yourself 'out there'. I found this so helpful to see the lines on someone else. But more than that, how the lines were making you 'feel', was helpful to me. Like you, i can were outfits that are objectively nice, but they dont 'feel' good. I think tuning into that inner voice and trusting your gut is important when you're stuck between two kibbe types. Anyway, thank you, loved watching this, and for the record, i think you're a fabulous SG. X

Kibbe SG deffinetly makes you shine. I think if you follow the SG lines and mabey throw in SN elements, it would look very put together. You could try natural textures or elements like studs in your clothes that wouldnt mess with SG color blocking or cut.

Great video, really well done :-) you look awesome in gamine lines - the reason is quite obvious: there is no "kibbe-width" in your shoulders, that excludes the natural type. The pictures of your outfits speak for themselves: gamine outfits are fantastic on you. Keep up the great work 😊👍🏻

I feel the same. I am a bit taller like 5ft4/5ft5 so I am very much on the limit for gamine. I do appear short though. But I don't think I look great in natural lines generally. I feel like the more I learn the more confused I get.
