Very nice video! However, the setup seemed complicated.
@viatormarine
@viatormarine 2 ай бұрын
It is the regular setup that comes with the boat. We just replaced the Tohatsu outboarder with an electric outboarder. We removed the head with the electronics, so we can close the cockpit when motoring. Today you have a better option using a pod drive on a rail instead the outboarder. But the pod was not yet available when we did the installation.

Just wondering what happens when you hit something with one of those unprotected rudders. I have hit logs floating out there at night and its a very large bump. I was thankful the rudder on my boat is behind the keel and on a skeg.

Great video. What was you impression of the 53 motor yacht?
@viatormarine
@viatormarine 9 ай бұрын
The building quality is excellent, as you would expect from KM. I have seen the boat meanwhile in some marinas and I think they could improve the deck layout. It is difficult to access from the side, if there are bicycles or other stuff in the cockpit and the sidedecks are blocked. They should consider more the real use cases of the boat when cruising.

Nice indeed but surprised the deck saloon windows are so high up. That lady in the video can't see out them to sea level. They're at her head height.
@viatormarine

The lady is 170cm and can easily see out of the deck salon. But each boat is customized to the owners demands. We can change the floor level to make sure that the owner can see out of the windows.

Needs flush hatches imo
@viatormarine
@viatormarine Жыл бұрын
Flush hatches are useless on an explorer yacht, they are not made for offshore sailing. Also you need a drainage system for each hatch, which increases the risk of leaking water into the boat. Flush hatches look nice, but they are not made for serious cruising.
@elianhirsch954
@elianhirsch954 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, very informative. I’m a fan of your work. They are useless offshore only because of the risk of leakage? And added cost of drainage? No other reason? Structural?
@viatormarine
@viatormarine Жыл бұрын
@@elianhirsch954 well, leakage is a major risk when sailing offshore. Hatches need to be closed completely and not leaking water even in very heavy seas. Imagine water droping from the hatches and soaking your berth or electronics. Offshore hatches have a strong frame, which is also more practical. You can for example ventilate your boat even in heavy rain. Very useful in the tropics.

Is the stove on a gimbal? How do porcelain plates make food taste better? I never knew that is why Porcelain plates were so good.
@viatormarine
@viatormarine Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late answer, just noticed your question. Yes, the stove is on a gimbal. There are not many induction stoves on the market (I only know GN Espace), so we build our own solution, which also fits much better into our design. The plates bring some style on board, so it doesn't feel like camping. Unfortunately the manufacturer stopped this series, only selling the remaining stock. So we bought some spare plates, just in case...

I had too back track and figure out where I was in the boat. At first I thought I was in the master forward cabin. Then they showed a similar bow cabin and I became lost. I was expecting a little side cabin somewhere. This is a very amazing cabin layout with a master aft and VIP suite forward. Very nicely done and the cabinetry is excellent. Does come in a shoal draft. If it did I would be very interested. A very handsome well done vessel.I like it very much. Thanks.

Nice boat but I will love to see a walk through in English and showing the boat as you talk, because this is not a interview, not interested to see two people showing porcelain plates, sorry but is my honest opinion, I believe that this a amazing project and a great boat that deserves a professional video of her for the whole world, not just German clients

We are sailors and building yachts for sailors. No fancy marketing, no bullshit. So we don't want to make "professional video". We can build a very limited number of boats per year and do not intend to address the whole world.

Why is it creaking so much at the dock? This is a aluminum boat so it has to be all the cabinets creaking. Could not imagine how bad the creaking would be under sail.
@viatormarine
@viatormarine 2 жыл бұрын
The lines are "creaking" under load, the boat is not creaking. An aluminium hull is totally stable, so there is no deformation under sail like with a fiberglass hull.

@@viatormarine Hardly to believe that the sound in the videos was from the lines. Sounded like furniture.
@viatormarine
@viatormarine Жыл бұрын
@@reklov827 as you can see in the beginning, we had a lot of wind in Cadzand, so the boat was moving strongly at the dock. Furniture is creaking, if the hull is bending - like in a fiberglass hull. But this is aluminium, therfore impossible.

@viatormarine
@viatormarine 2 жыл бұрын
