How is translated in old Swedish the phrase: the real capital of Greece is Constantinople?
@GregoriusFlavius14 сағат бұрын
In this day and age when men like Charles the Hammer are desperately needed, not only in Frankia but throught the Continent, the creation of this inspiring song is not just a work of art but a valuable contribution to our peoples.

The Franks/French were protected by themselves and were the strongest force in Europe. If Muslim invaders couldn't go through Spain again they had no chance at conquering old France even if Spain suddenly disapeared.

Awesome. How did you learn Frankish though? Is it just looking for an archaic version of modern Dutch words or what?

small correction. In addition to Russia and Little Russia, the Old Russian state and Kievan Rus included the lands of present-day Belarus (Minsk, Pinsk, Brest, etc.) and part of the lands of eastern Poland

We are about to have a similar moment in American politics. Trump will lose big but his supporters? Not sure if people will be going home crying or EXTREMELY angry.

My teen daughter just found your channel and loves your music. It is an added joy to see that you are Catholic as well. Just a thought to consider - your profile picture may lead women and teen girls into the temptation of lust and as a Catholic man I assume you would not want to do that, so it would be worth a profile picture change to protect the opposite sex from the occasion of sin.

I wonder, if the French nation kept this tongue, would the Normans have spoken it and English been High Germanized instead of Romanized?
@hopeundertheblacksunКүн бұрын
That would certainly be a very interesting scenario
@Enbdhhdu8e3Күн бұрын
The French nation as in the area of modern day France? Because they never spoke Frankish at any point, only the Frankish nobles and elite. The descendents of the Franks and the Frankish language are Low Franconians(Dutch)and High Franconians(German)hence why this also sounds Germanic, because it is. The Normans wouldn't have adopted Frankish, simply because Frankish wasn't spoken by the population of "west Francia".
@servantofaeie1569Күн бұрын
@@Enbdhhdu8e3 I'm saying what if there was an alternate history where commoners adopted the nobles' language. Like, if Old French died and all it's speakers swapped to Frankish.
@Enbdhhdu8e3Күн бұрын
@@servantofaeie1569 Then the chances of The Benelux and modern day France being a singular country or even the Holy Roman Empire including France within it because it would also be made out of germanic states by language and thus also not being destroyed in 1806.....idk, there's a chance western Europe of today would just be the HRE lol. Its a fun speculation but it would have shifted history quite a bit.

My first time hearing Frankish! It was so interesting learning the sound shifts which were very similar to High German, which surprised me as Wikipedia and Wiktionary treat it like the direct ancestor of Dutch. How much of this was reconstructed and how much is actually attested? In other ways it seemed pretty conservative, like putting "ist" at the end of a sentance like Latin with "est" and Persian with "ast"!
@SkaldBardКүн бұрын
Mostly attested, just a couple of words here and there and a few modifications from OHG
