Thank you for making this helpful video. Just fitted BLIS on my V40 (2015) yesterday and it worked perfectly. Relevant parts numbers (for V40): 1. LED indicators (mirror trims): 1287711 (left) and 1287713 (right) 2. SODL/SODR radar modules: 31387166 (left) and 31387167 (right) Note: for S60/V60/XC60, the part numbers are different but can be easily searched using the same keywords. Relevant electrical parts (available at sites such as Mouser and Element14): 1. 3-pin connector for the LED indicators: Molex 22-01-1032 (5051 series), 2 required 2. Crimp terminal for the 3-pin connectors: Molex 08-50-0113 (2759 series), ~5 required Note: It’s probably the easiest to get these connectors from used computer fans (must be 2 or 3 pins) and extend the wire to reach the door modules. The connector given above is a close substitute and fits a bit too snugly, great if someone can find the actual green connector. 3. 12-pin connector for the BLIS radar modules: Aptiv 33178007, 2 required 4. Crimp terminals for the 12-pin connectors: Aptiv 35072381, ~20 required 5. Crimp terminals to connect the LED indicators to both front door modules: TE Connectivity 1393367, ~5 required 6. Wire: 0.3 or 0.5 mm^2 (22-20 AWG) THIN WALL automotive cable (regular cable will fit too snugly in the 12-pin connectors) 7. Mini fuse holder for the BLIS radar circuit 8. Self-soldering heat shrink for splicing power and CANBus wires 9. Ring/eye type crimp terminal for grounding the circuit to either ground bolts in the cargo area Recommended special tools: - multimeter - crimper for 22-24 AWG crimp terminals - trim removers

i dont know anything about projectors. so def going to sound silly... but i was wondering the "static rainbow laser circle" that you used here does it usually option within the projector? can one make their own shapes with the projector or only shapes is provided? any brands you would suggest. i want to experiment for photography purposes so will really appreciate your feedback. thank you.

This is an rgb laser mate, not a normal video projector. I'm currently trawling the Web trying to find a decent semi budget option for my own home setup to accomplish something like this, just got a compact smoke machine for Xmas £30 or so, you can pick up a laser that will do this for anywhere between £100-400 depending on your budget, I'll be using mine for photography/ video applications too let me know if you want a point / link in the right direction 😀

For clarification, the smoke is necessary, to make the lasers visible to the naked eye otherwise they will only show up on the surface they're being projected on also whether or not you can create your own shapes / patterns depends on if you purchase a laser with ILDA input (International laser display association) from there you can get software on your computer to design your own shows / patterns / text and sync with audio, the possibilities Really are endless but it's a Ballache and not dirt cheap to get it off the ground if you want to be able to design your own shows

Rather than just get one loaded with its own presets, worth noting you can find some with Micro-sd ports which you can put your own patterns on but these are quite rare to my knowledge, good search terms to start with are 'ILDA Laser' 'RGB Laser' 'Animation laser' and any interchangeable variations thereof will provide you with lots of options on KZfaq, ebay and amazon etc

judging by lack of answers to comments i doubt ill get answered but, does this require adding the BLIS buutton to the CCM? im actually retrofitting BLIS camera system (old style) to my XC70 however i do not have a BLIS button.. i could get one if needed sure, volvo ells them for $30+ but if i dont need BLIS button then i can aviod another $30+ expense.

I can only say for XC60. It works both ways, with or without a dedicated button. If you don't install the button, BLIS can be enabled/disabled via MY CAR menu only. I just saw that you posted your question 2 years ago, but maybe it will be helpful to someone else :)

@@preyger thank you for the response! Learned a lot since and success I added camera based BLIS. For my setup/software it needs the button ever time it it’s turned on. I discovered that you can code the PDM/DDM but it lacks software (?) because I tried that and it did change behavior but still didn’t work. now I’ve pulled modules out of seemingly identical cars didn’t work still… I was starting to think that they really did almost serialize it. and then I came across a car that didn’t even match. Mine was older, but it works. It’s from a V70R. Works. Cant explain it. For one whatever I've learned is if your car has that I called the navigation screen but it's a screen that above the radio in the dash that would say stuff like my car on it … you guys got it a lot easier than people that lack that equipment. You can sometimes just program things to work, and if you’re missing things, you can re-code it to toggle in there, or as people without that system they’re at the mercy of if it can even remember what’s plugged into it.

Yes! 2009 and up you can, however on P1 and P2 platforms you are sort of limited to camera based BLIS (RCM/LCM) not radar based BLIS (SODL/SODR). The door modules (PDM/DDM) should be able to handle BLIS from door mirror cameras as long as you use VDASH to reconfigure it and add BLIS button. I have 2011 XC70 without BLIS from factory and i’m trying to add camera based system for now and i’m running into road blocks myself I added mirrors with cameras plus BLIS button that lights up after reconfiguration and I verified all the wiring to best of my ability and looks like right voltages are on all the pins and even got the BLIS button to light up in my CCM indicating that’s communicating with the DDM/PDM but no blind spot monitoring occurs from the flanking LEDs in the door and getting DTC that missing connection...

jon devieon dont think you can do it with vida if BLIS is missing from the carconfig file. Look into Vdash to get your CEM modified so it thinks it rolled off factory line with BLIS. $45 (USD) to activate it, the cracking proccess is free.. I don’t think any calibration steps or activation steps in Vida for camera BLIS I have tried. vida hasn’t been terrible helpful with getting my BLIS working, I tried so many times, it gives me some basic troubleshooting, no calibration options or ability to force it to retest or something... but doesn’t seem to activate the indicator LEDs in my tweeter housings but I think they are working behind the scenes cuz I also not getting any messages in my cluster for BLIS reduced or needing service or camera blocked which vida says would occur if was a hard fault like no camera signal or bad signal between camera to DDM or if was a problem with coms in general between modules. I’m beginning to wonder if i’m really missed something obvious like a wire not connected...which given the amount of time I been probing would be stupid.
