I am already a Plusnet customer and have been entirely happy. My current contract is for FTTC with phone giving me 36Mbps on a Plusnet Hub 2. I don't use the phone line as I already with Andrews + Arnold for a VoIP "landline". Today Plusnet offered me an upgrade to FTTP at 900Mbps for £45 /month for 24 months. I accepted straight away and I am a very happy bunny. Changover in 7 days time.

Avoid plus net they don’t Honour their own paperwork and trying to get a fault fixed is absolutely ridiculous, 6 week on fttp not once did they manage to fix a service running half its expected speed even though all ping tests showed a fault in riser , it goes plus net plus net lev 2 , who then log with wholesale, wholesale lev 1 (a waste of space) wholesale lev 2 who didn’t turn up , connections who instead of trying to fix just offered fibre 100 instead. I they then deleted all the records for the Ontand exchange making taking over by a 3rd party take 3 months . Save your money if your looking at entry speeds fttp and have a good mobile 5g signal in your area go 5g hub double the down speed , same upload as entry and use the Ethernet connection with your own equipment, just not great for online gaming due to ping for just 20 quid a month

Since posting to your last video, I have gone ahead and upgraded my vodafone account with new modem-router with built in digital phone sockets. All sorted, phone number retained and at a good price (no extra monthly cost for phone like EE).

@henryjohnson4615
@henryjohnson4615 3 ай бұрын
If its holding a steady Amber, there's an authentication issue at the DSLAM, or a network outage. If the Hub keeps rebooting there's a chance the Hub is faulty. Try a factory reset, and connect the Hub to the test socket on your master socket to eliminate local wiring issues. If this doesn't resolve, best give Plusnet a ring to get an openreach engineer on it.

Good review. What’s the WiFi like?
@henryjohnson4615
@henryjohnson4615 5 ай бұрын
It's identical in performance to the BT Smart Hub 2. To give a real perspective, I live in a mid terrace 2 bedroom house, and with my car parked across the road, I am still connected when outside. That's using the Hub on its own.

The big issue folks that people miss on bt have a guarantee speeds , plus net have a guarantee of 275 half of its main speed, from day 1 my experience with plusnet fell below the package advertised on there 500 , as the time went on over 10 days it dropped below 140mbs and up of 80 that fell to 20 (after I spoke and complained to plusnet) they refused to investigate and only offered the entry blaming the line distance (less than 1 mile) , when I got out of contract they shut down the service and deleted the Ont records making transfer to another provider next of impossible it took 2 months to be reconnected. Do not use plus net for fttp other than the entry packages , further more for ease In migration on areas shutting off analog, port to one of isp reviews recommended voip that support grandspan sip devices for existing analog telephone use , this will help cut your voice cost that use it as an emergency backup and super low rate a month costs there is no difference in performance in fact audio sounds far clearer plus if you move theres no issue taking your number I migrated to the USA yet still have a U.K. home due to work , I just take the box and hey presto still get all calls no matter where it doesn’t care so moving around in the uk either for business or away on holiday I just plug in to a g5 router and away I go . Bt broadband is however whist seems the same is still a victim to wholesale woes in service and one of the only few bt sided fttp provider to offer the high speed guarantee all those speed issues under plusnet disappeared under bt funny that . I still wish ofcom cracked down on the price hiking for existing customers that really should be outlawed when they renew that only works against the vulnerable we’re not costing them more for being on the same services so why should we have to pay 15 pounds more

nice review. Offers for new customers seem quite similar and seem to change weekly at the moment. Definitely I will consider pluset for my renewal after a couple of mid-contract price rises on BT, Plusnet is much cheaper. I am also on the top BT package 900 Halo 3+, and BT are reluctant to provide anything close to new customer price even though my renewal is next month, so plus net looks a great option if they are not responsive to haggling to retain me.

Excellent stuff. Yes, Plusnets 900MB Package is around £43.99 monthly on a 2 year term. I contributed to a review for Broadband Savvy, which includes some speed tests for this package and some information about the customer service and the Plusnet Hub 2. Thing is when FTTP becomes common place, what happens to Plusnet?
@henryjohnson4615
@henryjohnson4615 Жыл бұрын
Plusnet at the moment appears to be being put back to what it was originally intended for, a basic broadband service that's cheap, simple, and without any bells and whistles. Plusnet 80/20 FTTP with a rebadged BT Smart Hub 2 is often as low as £24.99 a month, which is peanuts compared to BT Fibre 2 at £36.99 a month.
@ynyslochtyn
@ynyslochtyn Жыл бұрын
@@henryjohnson4615 Thanks. My bad. Plusnet will support FTTP but NOT DIGITAL PHONE. So if you want to keep your phone (number) that maybe your banks, friends and family etc would use to contact you, you'll be forced into the more expensive BT package.
@henryjohnson4615
@henryjohnson4615 Жыл бұрын
@ynyslochtyn At the moment, the way around this is to take an SOGEA or FTTP Deal with Plusnet, and then port the phone to Andrew and Arnold voip, I am planning another video for this at some point.

@henryjohnson4615
@henryjohnson4615 Жыл бұрын
The support is basically the same as BT, in other words, if you need an engineer to come out, they arrange it immediately, usually less than 2 minute wait times on calling them, and there is a comprehensive online support forum which is actively monitored by their support staff.

Meanwhile through Plusnet - you could have their Fibre Unlimited (36MB Down, 9MB Up) for £24 with BT Sport Add on at £17 monthly, this would equate to around £45 monthly. Big difference.

Hi,please can you confirm that I would be able to use my BT discs with the Plusnet hub? My new deal with BT is £55.99 mth for fibre broadband only. (No tv package) Plusnet offer £38.99 fibre broadband only. It’s a savings of £17 mth which is fantastic. I’d just like to know if I can continue to use the BT discs dotted around my home? Usually the signal between rooms isn’t great and the BT discs certainly boost signals . Thank you 😊

If you are on Fibre to the Cabinet (Copper to the house) I would suggest you retain your BT Hub 2 (The Plusnet one is a rebadge) and the discs as they are, and simply change the login credentials on the hub settings, from "[email protected]" to your plusnet username ([email protected]) and your account password. This will allow you to continue using your BT Setup on Plusnets Network, which shares the BTNet Platform. If you're on Fibre to the Premises, however, you'll have to use the Plusnet Hub 2 (Plusnets Firmware doesn't port over support for the discs), which is identical in performance to the BT one. You could then use a WiFi Extender or BT Whole Home WiFi, which does the same job as the discs. Hope this helps.

Yes that's correct, Plusnet is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BT Group. It's the same company. This test was run on a BT Hub 6 Configured for Plusnet. Plusnet is alot cheaper and the only difference between Plusnet and BT packages is the absence of public WiFi. But most people don't need it anyway.
