There are really only 1 (and a half) downsides of m43; lack of bokeh on zoom lenses, the most you can get is f/1.7 from the Panny 10-25mm and 25-50mm, in FF terms that f/3.4 however f/2.8 zooms are plentiful on full frames. M43 really needs a zoom lens somewhere in between f/2 and f/2.8 with a focal range of 12-75mm. This isn't really up for debate either, most photographers will either want/need background separation at some point; assuming that they'll be content with shooting at f/2.8 on M43 and get f/5.6 ff equivalent bokeh.

I was an Aperture user. Was mad when they discontinued it. I use Apple Photos now. I actually really like, I am a fairly minimalist editor anyway. I do need DXO Pure Raw for denoising and DXO Viewpoint for perspective correction. You can use Luminar Neo as a plug in wiht Apple photos but that'a whole kettle of fish there. So my total investment in editing software in the last 10 years has been about $150 (for the two stand alone DXO apps).

I have a GF3 and I had an Olympus body-cap lens for it. I just looked for the lens and I could not find it. I might still have it, but unfortunately, I "lost" a lot of stuff lately and that might have been a part of it. I don't think I ever used that lens and body combination. I think I only used that lens on a Yi-M1 which has a 20MP sensor. From what I remember, the lens had some barrel distortion and was brighter in the middle, but it was fun. . . .

I have a love-hate relationship with this camera. Frankly, it's just too damn complicated! I've tried wrestling with the menu system but I always had a nagging feeling that I don't know what I'm doing. Having said that, if I keep it simple and just stick to aperture priority or P mode I often get impressive results.

For me the main cons is DOF and ISO, but ISO with the latest Panasonic camera, with the G9II it's no more a problem. Indeed DOF, compare to FF or even APS-C, you must be at least 1.5 f more open to have similar DOF

I just picked one up as a side cam to my G95 so I can leave a telephoto on the G95 and a wide angle on the GX85. So far I'm liking it. I had tried the G100 too but returned it after a couple weeks because it just didn't feel right in the hand. My used GX85 was about a similar price to the refurb G100 I had but feels SO MUCH better to use.

I decided to pick up a used G9 earlier this year and it's fantastic! I agonized over whether to choose this or the EM-1 Mk II--most of my lenses are Olympus. And the main lens I'll be pairing it with is the 12-100 f/4 PRO. So logically I should've picked the E-M1, right? What won me over was the fantastic high resolution EVF, joystick, and top LCD. The E-M1's EVF seemed to be a step backwards compared to my E-M5 Mk III.

CMD-K will get you to the keyword manager The editing is good for basics. It is crazy fast. You can edit in other applications when you need more power. It makes it easy to share with family friends and other devices. AI searching is pretty decent, like if you want to search for bridges but haven’t assigned that as a keyword. I wish it supported Nikon compressed RAW

100% worth it I just paid $450 US for it used with the 12-32 and 45-150 after returning my G100. Absolutely love the camera and although I have a few things I'd like improved I'm very happy for the price. (The few things I wish it had: ability adjust exposure compensation when in manual + auto ISO, ability to customize pressing in the rear dial, and weather sealing)

great video. i've been looking for a budget camera and a pocket friendly ecosystem and i stumbled upon micro 4/3. I fell in love just for the aesthetics and small size. i usually like robust and weather sealed bodies because i do alot of landscape, i found a good deal including an Olympus OMD EM-1 with the Mzuiko 75-300 ii and i'm really tempted to get it. What do u think and advise me guys ?

i am currently considering fuji i have to say. xt2 or xt3 used to be exact. right now i am on m43 (well it just happens because i came back to photography and i just got the cheapest camera i could find really) while in theory, i enjoy a lot of the benefits m43 brings, and i like the 4:3 format and i have no issues overall, what kind of kills a lot of my enjoyment is the... absolute garbage... handling of ISO of m43. its actually ridiculous. i look at images i took with my old nikon d90 back 15 years ago, and its less noisy at like iso 1250 than my m43 is at like iso400. it feels unreal how bad the m43 handles iso really. it limits me so much that pretty much all i can shoot is pure daylight. early morning? forget it, evening? forget it, indoors? forget it. just sitting in my kitchen right now wich is brightly lid with a window open and my m43 already needs to bump up the iso to around 1600 wich creates so incredibly noisy images, losing all detail and ruining colors that, ngl... it doesnt look much better than my smartphone. so my alternative idea was a used a7ii maybe, but it has many drawbacks too. like only 5fps burst mode, lenses are more expensive and larger and missing so many features. then i look at a used fuji xt2 or xt3 wich can be had for around the same price, and it retains a lot of the form factor and small lenses and lightweight and whatnot the m43 offers, it has amazing burst mode and it still does not outright suck in everything above 800 iso like the m43 does, so it kind of looks as if it strikes the perfect middle ground.

Every system has its pros and cons. I have an OM-D E-M1 as a travel camera and light painting. Because full weather sealing and compact lenses. And live composite mode. Also for Macro photographers it is a very wise choice due to the excellent IBIS, more depth of field and focus bracketing. It is not the best choice for Milky Way photography or Portrait where a shallow depth of field is what the market wants.

Sounds like an OM-5 mark 2 with usb-c would be a good thing. I love my capture clip so they would need to sort out the weak tripod mount issue for me to switch from e-m1 mark 2.

The whole purpose of adapting vintage lenses is to get the specific character that belongs to them. Not because the very sharp (any modern lens is great in that department) - but because they have flaws. And different color rendering + optical imperfections. As to the swirl bokeh - try to use speed buster - that will give you the whole lens coverage circle to the MFT sensor.

i am actually deciding between the gx8 and the em5ii atm and its such a hard decision. i d say feature wise the oly would probably my pick but man... is it just me? but i start to grow out of this centered viewfinder that also makes the camera artificially a lot bigger than it needs to be because of this bump and it screams ''camera'' to other people a lot faster. i already hated this back with dslr. its like your constantly half breaking your nose pressing it against the camera, smearing your display and eventually pressing a button. its just so uncomfortable. and i also think the ergonomics seem to be a lot better on the gx8 eventually. i dont have tiny hands, i need .. something... at least to grip to. the em5 has like... nothing. it has this little... bump thingy but you cant hardly call that a ''grip'' dunno, design wise i just prefer bodys in the style of gx8 sony a6000 and others tbh.
@martingreenberg870
@martingreenberg870 12 күн бұрын
There is your answer. You don’t like the DSL body form. Fair enough. Go with what makes you happy. The image quality may be better with the Sony A6xxx line. The ergos and menus aren’t great though. The lenses are logger, heavier, and more expensive. I like my GX85/9 so much I bought backups for both. I like the LUMIX lenses. Nice street photography and EDC bodies. I’m sure you will be happy with either the GX or A6xxx you select. Man, the X6000 are selling cheap as chips. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Shooting the moon in HR mode did not worked out for me on the old G9 because the moon moved during the 4 pictures taken by the HR process. The motion blur was worse than the resolution. Is the HR Mode on the G9ii now faster or the motion is better corrected? Or did I something wrong on my G9? (or is there already a HR picture of the moon in the G9ii camera and the let us think..🤫)

Congrats on the 2K subs. Glad the G9 II worked out for you. Still think the MFT mount needs a high quality small camera ideally rangefinder style body. Open gate can be recorded to SD cards. Only the ProRes 4k and 5.7k options need an external SSD. Great review. An incredibly complete camera in both departments. For me the best crop sensor hybrid camera on the market right now. The GH7 does improve on it a bit on the video side but some of those extras are overkill for 99% of people (like ProRes RAW)
