Hi V! I’ve been using my new-to-me R5 for a while now. I’ve shot a wedding and the reception, and recently my first bridal shower (which was, in all honesty, quite boring). I knew the R5 Mk II was soon to be released before deciding to go ahead with purchasing the R5. I have no regrets. But I don’t rely on photography for income so I can’t really say if the Mk II would be better for the full time working photographer if they already have the R5. What say you? 👍🏼👍🏼💜👍🏼👍🏼

Hey appreciate the comment. As of right now I haven't had the R5 mk II for 24 hours yet. Initial impressions are good but i'll need more time to get to know the quirks of the camera before I can say anything with certainty. It's going to be hard to top the R5 because it's such a good camera. In a month i'll make a detailed video comparing the R5 and R5mkII and i'll have a solid answer for you :)

You don't advise to back up your camera settings onto a blank SD card first as the update resets the camera and your settings will be lost. I know, I was that man.

Really that's strange. I've done every update on the R5 and I've never had my setting reset on me. It's strange that it happened to you. Which firmware caused your settings to reset?

@@vaskoobscura_ I upgraded from 1.7.0 to 2.0. In truth I didn't mind, as I've not long had the camera and having to go through all the settings again helped me to get more familiar with :)

The EOS R is perfect for studio environment und professional work. Unless you rely on 20fps for whatever it is perfect. I have it since day one. Perfect piece piece of gear. Don't let the nerds tell you about a single card slot, 4k crop bla bla. If those things matter to you you probably have 5k for a r5 Mark II 🙂 For everybody else it's perfect. My girlfriend does weddings with the eos r. No problem. For aprox. 800 bucks it's amazing.

Not sure what you’re referring to with no context but the camera will record in whatever settings you have set in your c3 setting if that’s what you’re asking.

I read online that the original Fuji lens hood does not screw on tightly enough and is a little loose. Is that true?

Yes my lens hood falls off all the time I don’t even use it anymore. You’re picking up a plastic lens cap on eBay for a few bucks.

I've had this chair since 2020 and its been amazing up until today where my armrest broke off completely. I don't know if in the 2 years since this video you've had that issue but now I'm looking at other chairs.. looking forward to seeing other *newer* videos

There are holes you can put a strap through but i'm not sure what you mean by strap clamp and screws.

I think Sigma makes a 24-35 f2 which isn't the same thing but it can mount onto Nikon. If enough people ask for an f2 zoom lens i'm sure Nikon will make one.

Trying to upgrade with the SD card, formatted and copied file direct, tick okay to update - it says loading then asks again update firmware? 1.2 - 1.5 and cancel/ok but ok is greyed out so i cant say ok... have just tried 3 times and can't seem to get how - please help if you can!

That's strange. Did you unzip the firmware before you transferred it onto your card? You need to unzip the download you get from the Canon webpage before putting it on the card. Another option could be that there is something wrong with the firmware. Maybe try downloading it again. Other option could be an issue with the SD card. Maybe try another card. Hope that helps.

Non the R5 has a 30min record limit. Hopefully Canon gets rid of that in a firmware update. But if you use an external recorder like the Atomos Ninja V you can record pro res raw for hours. It all depends on how big of a hard drive you put on the Ninja V.

I don't bother using a DSLR or Mirrorless for videography. I have a dedicated video camera that is DESIGNED for video and it won't get hot or overheat and shut down. its the Canon Vixia HF G60 camcorder. It is an amazing video camera for the amateur. If you're more of a pro Canon also has a lineup of professional video cameras. The current Canon Vixia HF G70 Check out the XA60, XA65, XA70., XA 75 and XA605 Prices range from $1599 to $4300 which at the end of the day will save you lots of cash. If your work is more serious then the Cine line of canon videography equipment the EOS C70, EOS C300, C400 and C500 prices start at $6,000. Additionally, beginning with the XA line of cameras you can have two XLR terminals plus 4-channel linear PCM bring a suite of pro audio options. You won't get that from an R1 without spending more for accessories. You will have magnificent video but less than acceptable audio unless you move up to the pro series of video recorders. Why spend the money for a video camera shoved into the body of a SLR/DSLR when you can have a body designed AROUND a video camera from the ground up.

I used the price as the factor that determines entry level. But it is more of an entry level camera for photographers than videographers. There are better options for video. By the way the EOS R can shoot 10bit 422 via an external recorder.

Hey! I know this is an off topic question but I have an RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM and whenever I zoom in, the f stop raises and the image I’m looking at through my LCD screen gets darker, is that normal?

Yes, this is normal for a variable aperture lens like yours, as you zoom in, the aperture closes down; thus making your image darker. I trust this is of help. To over come this effect you would need a "constant" aperture lens, say the 24-105 F4L IS USM, or 24-70 f2.8L lens.

Yes it’s normal. Your lens is a variable aperture lens. It ranges from f4 to f7.1 as you zoom in. A constant aperture zoom lens will maintain the same aperture when zooming. Hope that helps.

Good and valuable info brother! But where in the world is the “left and right button?” 3:48 in, I’m seeing the two arrows on my LCD screen, one on each side of the eye focus square, but I do not see a left/right button that I can use to manually select which eye. 🤷🏼♂️

@@melvillelettsome7513 The button he's probably referring to is the Multi-controller (looked it up in my EOS R5 Advanced User Guide 😎). It's right next to the view finder on the right.

Sorry my apologies in my head I call it the left and right button but in reality it’s just flicking the joystick left and right. It’s also called the multi controller. You can use it to switch between eyes. Really handy when shooting with a shallow depth of field.
