So the rails for the door are attached to a floating 2x4? Not good
@doorsdoneright85048 ай бұрын
Great opinion! This development was built by Lennar. 2nd largest home builder in the US. Not my build, but I see this exact construction everywhere without issue on single-wide doors. Once every year or two, across thousands of jobs, I see the pad pulled away from the frame when some old 16' wide door was installed with extension springs (not done anymore) and the cable broke. Otherwise all good - literally zero issues with this method. But if you feel strongly about this, you should reach out to Lennar.

What opener is that?

I was curious how this opener would work with a larger HL drum. The little black angle mounting bracket that comes standard, did you modify it or did it come with a larger one for this type of application?

8 Foot wide door openings in new construction is a joke. With all that side room and extra headroom, these door openings should be at least 9X8

Maybe drill out a notch in the cement, and set the bracket into the notch, then epoxy it in place. Impact hammer drill will make the notch cutting an easy and quick task.

Got a black aluminum trimming done last year when I my black garage door I want to clean the exterior part of the door and the aluminum trimming I was going to use water and dawn soap but is there anything u use to recommend to clean to not scratch the door and aluminum trim ? Yep. I got an estimate for this today. It's on the higher-end of design and materials and paint. Unfortunately I am not high-end, but now I know what that level of work goes for. For an aluminum frame with ELP, so it comes painted with decorative trim is 1200 installed, and considering what it is, it's fair; but I can't afford that. It's nice though.

I live in Miami, and most contractors haven't even heard of this. At least the ones I called. It must be a regional thing because just leave the door without any trim. I found one guy who works with steel and aluminum that will custom make one, but I haven't gotten the cost yet. It's probably going to be expensive.

Where is pad for garage opener and each part of h frame should be 2x6 and nailed firmly to wall
@doorsdoneright85042 жыл бұрын
This was a major development in my area. Not my framing and not my installation. This door is almost certainly getting extension springs (on 8' x 7' pan doors by a big builder), so spring pad would not be used. I agree on the 2 x 6's - they're better, like I said in the video around 1:06 - but 2 x 4's are acceptable and way more commonly used. If these 2 x 6's were nailed directly to the wall, the door would be sitting between the foundation sides. The 2 x 6's would need to be notched around the foundation and bottom jamb bracket removed and reinstalled way above where it should be. Could also create a lot of difficulty installing the sensors. I discuss those issues, and others, in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idiKedahrraReoE.html

H frame uprights, 2x6, really should go all the way and nailed to the top plate. That's where all the weight of the door is carried.
