Capping a Garage Door Frame with Aluminum

Important things to consider when having the frame around your garage door capped in aluminum. It’s important that it’s done correctly, so your garage door can be installed properly and had as good a seal as possible.

Yep. I got an estimate for this today. It's on the higher-end of design and materials and paint. Unfortunately I am not high-end, but now I know what that level of work goes for. For an aluminum frame with ELP, so it comes painted with decorative trim is 1200 installed, and considering what it is, it's fair; but I can't afford that. It's nice though.

I live in Miami, and most contractors haven't even heard of this. At least the ones I called. It must be a regional thing because just leave the door without any trim. I found one guy who works with steel and aluminum that will custom make one, but I haven't gotten the cost yet. It's probably going to be expensive.

Got a black aluminum trimming done last year when I my black garage door I want to clean the exterior part of the door and the aluminum trimming I was going to use water and dawn soap but is there anything u use to recommend to clean to not scratch the door and aluminum trim ? Also what would u use to dry it

It was not as cheap as I thought. It's a specialty and you pay for that. I figure that's what it costs. I mean these people do gates and fences and railings that you only see in the most affluent neighborhoods. It's beautiful, but it's just a frame and trim of one door. I/'ll keep looking. I'll probably put Hardie planks for now. It's worth the 500 dollars. I would do it tomorrow if it was that. Everything is so expensive now.
