Everyone’s talking about how shaky cam bad thing, i think it’s just good for certain times for example when in a horror movie you want the camera man to feel like a human, or you can reverse it to make something feel inhuman

Also, I think it does great at showing the anxiety obi wan was probably feeling here, maybe something he’s not used to feeling alot

Shaky cam for movies like the Blair Witch Project or just any found footage movie in general, or some killers POV makes sense and can add to the tension, but big block buster movies/shows that have shaky cam is just so distracting and stands out, and not in a good way either. I hadn’t seen Kenobi since it was first released so I never realized just how bad the shaky cam was.

It is now obvious that modern American cinema is not a dream machine, but a machine for cutting up budgets by corrupt officials, advertisers, marketers and lobbyists of previously underground ideologies. They spend 400 million dol. on films, although in reality less than 10% is actually spent on the film. Professionals, people with principles and really good actors are actively expelled from the industry, allowing it to be filled with all sorts of... (KZfaq with its totalitarian censorship will not allow me to name them, but you will understand me correctly).

It's an emotional scene, so why on Earth would someone use shaky cam here? It's not like there's an explosion or frantic gunfire (even then, I still prefer steady cam). It just looks like the camera man is drunk. Camera moves need motivation, just like an actor. Your version is miles better!

Shakey because gritty. It’s real- you feel like you’re really there looking at him- and you’ve also had 6 shots of vodka.

How great would it have been for the series to be shot more in tune with other Star Wars films only handheld to show up as soon as Vader arrives. Just how off-putting it is for Obi-Wan.

People need to get lives. It's literally not that bad. It just makes me feel different about each scene. The shaky camera kind of makes it feel intense and that there is still danger or processing of what's happening, and the edited one makes it seem like grief, or something

I always wondered why there was a similar thing in Breaking Bad, it’s not that shaky tho, but it still pretty annoying and i’m sure they did it on purpose. I remember watching a behind the scenes, and when they were filming there was literally a guy gently pushing the camera guy while they filmed and the actors performed.

Shaky cam is often used to invoke a sense of anxiety and panic. Either that, or to enhance the chaos of a scene. I don't see why it was used here. It should be more like the edited version where the shot takes its time and hangs on the emotion of the characters.

What the hell is Hollywood's obsession with a shaky cam I can kind of understand it in fight scenes if they are trying to say it gives off a "chaotic feel" (I still hate it in that but I can at least kind of see where they are coming from) But seriously who thought it was appropriate in this sad death scene, it's so distracting and comical for no reason

if the director knows how to use it, it's great, like in a moment that the character is mad, or confused, scared etc, but in this context it doesn't fit.

Camera shake is needed for many things, from hiding fast scene mistakes, up to conveying mental atmosphere. If the viewer never feels anxiety (and can't understand without camera shake that the character is heartbroken or something) or doesn't like the look of shooting with a passive steadicam, then camera shake just isn't for him. Camera shake is not something 100% good or 100% bad (I tend to think it is necessary), it's just different viewers have different needs in films
@justinw15632 күн бұрын
Wow, I am surprised how much that changes the feel of the scene. It hits harder now that you can focus on Ewan's acting.
