In case you were around in the 90s you would be aware why camp stopped working for the DC audiences destroying several batman instalments until nolans more grounded take in late 2000s. Those films literally changed the dynamic and is why Superman was taken at a more realistic approach instead of its prior predecessor Superman returns which flopped horribly. 4th yes crytics don't matter silly Gunnbro. The box office numbers is where it speaks and infact the fallow up numbers from the sequal is what really tells yo how committed the audience really was to the new instalment. If the first instalment didn't make money then of course sequels wouldn't be made though. BVS made more than it's prequal MOS at a budget of 250mill collecting 778 mill. That's more than man of still making 668 mill from a 225 mill budget.. both doing exceptionally well.

Logan is a comic book movie, and it is ALSO a profound piece of art. i think you might be my new favourite film critic. This was SOOOOO refreshing to watch. Well refreshing until i snorted chocolate milk out my nose from laughing upon hearing you say "wiggle" I'm the "jerk in box#1" at my comic book store... my collection has over 60k comics most of them DC... Snyder bought a few "most popular graphic novels" amalgamated them into a Frankenstein's Monster which never were intended to have blended into a universe which should never be so choppy and dark (oh the Injustice - *shhh don't tell Snyder that's how you create a dark DC iteration). IMO the problem with the Snyderverse is it really wasn't anything more than a tunnell visioned director who's hack film making relies on surreal imagery slomotiom and Matrix era "innovation" while making sure his (lack of) characterization gave us a masturbatory continuation of the Nolanverse (which too is only cheapened and bastardized by it's hyper-opinionated fan base). A friend asked me right after viewing BVS, what i thought. I said, Aside from the jarring theme, it's telling how well an understanding Snyder has of the DC history that the only correct thing was Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman the best thing in a Batman Superman movie!?! So many things to correct in the movie but the biggest point i make is, if youre going to have a "dark" version of Superman... because of the snapping of Zod's neck, which actually didn't bother me, Supes has killed Zod, and other villains on occasion in the comics... when it was the only thing he could do to keep them from killing others... but the biggest missed opportunity of that film was NOT flipping Batman from the "Dark Knight" but to the "Dark Knight Detective" If Supes is dark, Batman HAS to be the brightness that balances that out. He needed to be 70's Neil Addams Blue and Grey Batman... not just a rehash of Nolan's grim pouty and frankly at this point boring characterization of ALL Bruce is. That same friend after seeing Justice League asked what i thought.My answer was immediately. Cyborg is a Titan... he's never been a League member (certainly not as a swap out for Martin Manhunter who's by most accounts, the heart of the JL) Darkseid was such a bad and lazy choice to be the threat. He asked how I'd have made it better. I answered with one word, Starro. After explaining who Starro was, his response was, a giant starfish sounds like a stupid thing to make these heroes form a league. I said how dare he, smack him, and proceeded to lay out that it wouldn't have been an orgin story... all we get are orgin stories that cripple the sequels from brancing out into more evolved characters... i said it would begin in mid battle with like Zatanna, Firestorm, Hawkman, and a few others in a fight with either several random villains of other heros which would hae implied a Injustice League, maybe Captain Cold, Circe, and Amazo... or a bigger threat like a space battle with Starbreaker. The league would already be formed, and Starro would have been the big bad. Essientially Gunn's Suicide Squad WAS my Justice League movie. He has his faults, yes.. but he actually is a fan of comics, and he knows the history and lore than more than just 5 top tier heroes. ... You mentioned Cereature Commandos... what do you think that Gunn's going to have the first "big bad" for his DCU be Queen Bee? Anyway, sorry for this mini-rant... and thanks for saying pretty much everything I do about Snyder, with the frustration, ability to cite his limitated points of "building a formalistic dc that goes against the core of the DC foundation. Which is really simple, DC isn't Marvel. It's not science based, where everything in it's universe has to be justified as being able to exist in the real world. It works fine for Marvel, but it weakens DC beyond measure. DC is magic based, not science. It has a level of true escapism, and a level of whimsy, where you just accept that the vilain is the villain, the hero is the hero, and absurd things happen... like giant mid controlling starfish invade, the condiment king may attack you with mustard, or people grow giant heads, or shrink because that's just the fun, escape that superhero stories can be about. Why isn't anyone having a hissy-fit yelling #Restorethe66verse ? ;)

His Superman was a god damn Dark Knight wannabe who can fly, and Henry Cavill was a plank of wood the entire time he played the character, outside of the one time he played him in Josstice League, the most Superman he ever was is in the version of Justice League that everybody hates. The most Superman we got in movies in the last decade was Captain America in the MCU.
