Apart from the lousy spitfire shooting, in all honesty, I just So love this film. Excellent and Lancaster nails his performance with such conviction

In a later scene Burt Lancaster is shot in the lower leg crossing a footbridge fleeing from a train he has just abandoned - soon before he had injured the leg playing golf, so the script had to be rewritten to accommodate his impaired running ability.

Are you suffering from “Saving Private Ryan” fatigue? Then watch a real WW2 movie,🎥 “The Longest Day,” made in 1962. In it, French Paratroopers jump out into enemy lines behind the Atlantic Wall just beyond the Normandy beachhead, just hours before the D-Day landing, and link up with French partisans on the ground. Together with explosives 🧨 and tools 🛠, they sabotage a railroad 🛤 line, causing a train 🚂 derailment, resulting in a massive explosion 💥 and fire. 🔥 “The Train” is also an excellent movie. 🍿 I saw it in the theater the year it came out. thanks 🎌 🚩 🧑🎤 🏁 👩💼👩🎓

Strange that being a German WWII engine it only has German cross marks and no nazi cross (slight detail). The train soldiers firing at German soldiers is weird yet might've happened. The idea behind the film is great. Nice plot. I enjoyed it. cheers👍🏼
