To answer your question Miku, the backup vocalist/rhythm guitarist, used to work in a maid cafe and got the idea to have a submissive maid image contrasted by a hard driving rock n' roll sound. The band refers to their male fans as "masters" and their female fans as "princesses" and call their concerts "servings".

Five string basses have an extra low: usually tuned B E A D G. MISA is an inspirational bassist and is never buried in the mix. Miku 🌹 plays Zemaitis. You’ll also find Zemaitis famously with Rich Robinson (Black Crowes). You did an excellent job picking up on the multiple genres coming through. And you also have a good ear for arrangement. Band Maid will reward you with every composition. I really think “Puzzle” has all the elements that make Band Maid great 👍🏽

BAND-MAID has written many songs for anime, and their latest song is "Protect you." It was created as the ending song for the currently airing mecha anime, Grendizer U. I highly recommend it. I think you'll get a lot of recommendations in the comments. My recommendations are Onset live, Without Holding Back, From Now On. Their recent live video "Hate?" is also popular. If you like pop punk, I think you'll really like this band. They have a lot of songs that are like the evolution of pop punk.

Nexr Band-Maid' Puzzle (LIVE)

One day you'll look back and think it was cute that you thought that was a MISA bass solo. This song does have a big pop punk influence, and if you listen to the instrumental version you can actually hear that it's probably one of the best pop punk choruses ever written but Saiki's vocal line keeps a total classic rock sound pumping over it. And that just goes to show how they can blend so many styles of music into just one song and create a familiar but totally new sound.

You just listened to the greatest Rock band of all time! No way to pigeon hole them into a specific genre because they are better than the best in each of the genre you can compare them to. And I been around since the Van Halen and Rush days. I thought the best of Rock was behind us, but the best of Rock just moved to Japan……and happens to play in Maid outfits. I LOVE BAND MAID❤❤

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). BAND-MAID consider themselves to be Hard Rock, though Metal is among their many influences. They have no genre the shapeshift though them, or more correctly their songs flow through them. Yes, a 5 String Black Smoker by Black Cloud. It has a low B. Once BAND-MAID found their sound they went pretty heavy, and MISA retired her 4 String Fender Jazz Bass and took up the 5 String. Akane, likewise learned to use a Double Pedal. Since retiring her Rickenbacker, Miku uses Zemaitis guitars exclusively. That's the CS24PF “Ring Chess”. She even has a Signature guitar, "The Flappy Pigeon". MISA, since switching to Black Cloud has had many custom one offs including an SG Precision and a copy of her Jazz Bass. She now also has a Signature bass, the TM BETA-JM5 MISA. Kanami doesn't have a Signature PRS yet, but she is now listed on their official users page. Miku has settles on an EVH amp. After a number of amps Kanami did play a Mesa but has since switched to a Bugera. MISA usually plays Orange, but sometimes an Ampeg SVT or Agillar. BAND-MAID have done many anime theme song commissions, though this isn't one. They have even appear in anime form themselves in the Music Video for 'Unleash'. 'Their Power Pop Masterpiece also sounds like an anime theme song, but hasn't been in one, yet. Also try some of their Official LIVE Videos. The 5th string on a 5-string bass is an extra "low". Typical base is E-A-D-G strings. 5-string is B-E-A-D-G.

The bass player, Misa, has been using custom basses made by Black Cloud. They call all of their basses Black Smoker. Bass solo is just Band-Maid doing the normal things that Band-Maid does. Band-Maid is one of the best live bands on the planet. Congratulations, you just took the musical Red Pill. Now enjoy the crazy ride you're about to take...and I don't see anyone else explaining - the maid costumes are the idea of the initial band founder - Miku, playing that silver guitar. She started the band, and since she used to work in Maid Cafes in Japan - that's a thing, you can look it up, her idea was to start a rock band of 'cute girls wearing maid outfits' - because there were/are lots of 'idol' bands like that in Japan, but instead of being a poppy, manufactured studio music, they would be a honest hard rock band that plays their own instruments. The maid outfits have evolved over the years, and Miku wears the most traditional maid outfit now, and the others have very cool riffs on the motifs. But it won't matter, because by the second song you won't even notice them because of all the dopamine your ears will be making. Because it just so happened those 'cute girls' she recruited included top-5 world wide talent bass player and lead guitar player, and the drummer isn't far behind. And then a singer that has the power to match with them. It's pretty insane what she built, welcome aboard!

This particular track has not been in an anime, to my knowledge (somebody will correct me if I'm wrong). But they have had several tracks that have been openers or closers for various anime productions. Their song Choose Me was in a Netflix movie called Kate (the band appears briefly), and also in an episode of Peacemaker, I think. Glad you liked the Maids! Fun reaction, I hope we get to see more reactions to them from you. There's a couple of videos that just dropped recently you could check out (Protect You, Magie), or you could check out one of their tracks from the epic Tenth Anniversary Yokohama concert (Hate?) ... and then maybe go back further than Dice to their first music video (which saved the band from a fate worse than cancellation) called Thrill.
