Swimming Pools went up at the time, the irony was heavy. People were blasting that song at parties getting drunk, a lot of people don't pay attention to lyrics.

fun fact! in january 28th when he says “check the birthdate, you ain’t the god” he’s referring to the fact that he has the same birthday as rakim, a rapper in the early 2000s who was nicknamed ‘The God MC’. i’ve always loved that bar.

I have a recommendation of an EP that I've seen nobody react to: Prima Donna by Vince Staples. He envisions a character close to himself in real life, that goes through the stages of fame, money, success etc. At first, he loves the sensation of fame and glory and turns his back on his family, friends and street gang. As it goes on, the character loses all sense of enjoyment from his accomplishments, regretting everything, becoming really depressed. In the end, he commits suicide. The interesting thing is that everything is in reverse, so the album actually starts out with his suicide. Most of the songs on this EP have a depressing, repeating outro, revealing the character's feelings which make sense even if you listen to the album in reverse (normal order is a bit weird, since the character goes from committing suicide to being depressed to full on extasy of his newfound fame). I'd give the album a listen both in normal order and reverse. By far, one of my favourite projects and there's nobody on the Internet that has recently reacted to this.

Y’all are real ones. You said Drive as an all time favorite movie. So many people don’t understand the master piece of that film. I swear. Then Archie said burial and Molly said MCR. Y’all are cool AF if y’all are ever in Chicago hit me up! Show y’all around to some good places no tourist spots the OG places! Y’all are people I would def get along with and chill. If y’all like indie and Funk you should give Khruangbin, people everywhere a listen to start the drummer never leaves his pocket literal master of time. If you like new wave Jazz you should listen to FKJ four years or any live set on YT. A master of music. Or listen to Risk by FKJ ft. Bas. Some good tunes. I also agree having your opinions on the internet is scary. But we are all glad you’re giving it. Just keep being y’all true self. Not ever going to be everyone’s cup of tea AND that’s okay people should understand this and just enjoy what you do put out!

it will depend on what you like. if you have spotify, i would recommend you make a playlist of your favorite hip hop songs. then scroll to the bottom for the recommendations. you could spend hrs discovering stuff. off the top of my head i would recommend... common - be slum village - fantastic vol 2 cee lo green - is the soul machine hope that helps ✌🏼

good kid, maad city is not Kendrick's debut album, it was just his first album in a major label. His actual debut is Section.80, which people mistake for a mixtape for some reason, but it's labeled as an album everywhere you look and at the time it was advertised as his debut. I don't think that makes gkmc less impressive tho, it's still incredible considering his age, and Section.80 is a great debut anyway.
