Is Corrie the only soap who has kept their original intro music?

1:14 These are the ones from my childhood, and I used to hate Emmerdale Farm because I thought it was really boring lol These titles stand out, because they obviously spent a bit of money on them. They use 35mm film, and there's some interesting filters and editing techniques used as well. They're timeless and probably why they ran for 14 years.

Loving's intros were just so blah and boring. The Figure It Out one was actually the best, and quite good. The City opening was ok, but it felt more like something you would see on The WB instead. The intro at 02:31 is fake and fan made! I mean, Heather Locklear being in it should be a clue to how fake it is.

Some of the dates on the intros are wrong. Because the one at 2:01 first premiered in October 1990, not 1991. The one at 2:26 first premiered in 1997 (don't know the exact month but it was in 1997), not 1994. The one at 3:21 premiered in October/November 1999, not 2000 The rest of the dates are correct. I know because I spent hours circling through some compilation videos in the months/years the intros first premiered. Not trying to impose any competition here, but a few months ago I made a video similar to this one, for my own personal watching, not the Internet's, with the correct dates and updated to include the intro that premiered upon Coronation Street's move from Granada Studios to MediaCity UK in 2014. Hope this helps.

She totally represented the middle class America. One job, decent housing, decent car, groceries in those days were attainable for almost everyone. How did we get from that to the America of today. Overworked middle class, barely making to the end of the month. Those were the golden years, and I doubt they're coming back. Lucky are the ones who lived through that... And yes, the best sitcom song opening or at least the top three. We miss you MTM, and those days.

Really a jolt to see the first one from 1951. I remember it because my mother watched. it. I was four years old. I .remember being intrigued by it because of the rolling clouds. Even the cheesy organ music seems familiar to me now.

I didn't get to see MTM Show when it originally aired in the 70s since I was born in 1982, but I remember watching this legendary how with many others as reruns in the 80s and 90s.

The original theme will always be the best. The oboe is just simply beautiful and makes me emotional. This is when Emmerdale was a lot more wholesome and worth watching, unlike the current drivel and endless bed hopping etc

the new theme tune is so lazy, just a dumbed down version of the original - suits the current product. Loved the intros through the years - great upload

The Emmerdale theme has been changed at least 4 or more times since its inception, whilst the Coronation Street has only been changed twice. Honestly, they should've kept the 1972 theme until at least 2002, when the show was 30 years old.

One of the prettiest theme musics ever added to a soap. As much as the 80s stuff was the "malaise era" as has been said about the cars of the decade, this one definitely had a sort if hypnotic charm that belies some of the emptiness of feeling I get from much of today's content, although still sometimes good every so often. The original theme music, and content, was evolution of script and music over time, having a certain sort of respect for its origins, or traditional trademarks. This viewpoint isn't just for soaps, but media in general.

As an American, I gotta ask, what is the appeal of this show?
@peterainsworth80263 ай бұрын
As originally conceived it mirrored the close working class communities that lived on top of each other in narrow terraced streets, where everybody knew each other, their business and gossip would be rife. That made for great TV for a lot of Brits. Of course that world is now gone so Coronation St is more of a fairytale pretending it still exists these days.

What inspired me about this intro was seeing a person clearly enjoying her work, then having the means to go out and shop for little rewards for herself. That’s all any of us wanted (and still do).
