This Vid convinced me to NOT buy the Meng kit!The "more details" on places where you not really see it are not really worth the price and more surface detail where you can see it at first glance is really what counts!Btw,2 really nice builds!But a little toooo much weathering!

Thanks for your comments! I'm glad to hear this video helped you to decide which kit you like more. I still have Eduard edition of Academy kit in my stash and I'm not giving it up... Both of these kits gave me opportunity to weather a bit heavily and I didn't even take those to my reference picture level...🙂Glad You liked my models too.

This was a great review.....visuals as you describe the differences; even-handed and objective; allows the modeler to choose which aspects (intakes vs figures, etc) are most important to them so they can make an informed decision. The links to build videos of both is a nice bonus. Well done!! 👏

Wow really impressive build and nice video recording! I agree with you about the decals. I built this model as well-- a real pleasure to build. I admire your patience to mask all those lines. It really looks great next to those other models you've built. And definitely a good choice for paint color. If I build one again I will probably use that MRP in some way. For my model, I went with a cleaner more metallic look and finish.

Thanks for comments! It is nice to hear comments on these not so much wathed videos as I doubt my build and video, but perhaps it is just the subject.. Painting/masking really took some time.. I highly recommend MRP Clamoufage grey /Have glass V warnish, you can achieve many different finished with them.

I've built both. One of the "criticisms" of the Hasegawa F104 are rivets where some people claim there shouldn't be rivets. I've seen 5 different F104s in different museums outdoors and indoors, i've stood only meters from F104s in real life, first there are indeed rivets on the top of the F104 wings, the Hasegawa kit is actually more realistic on that part, the Kinetic kit and the "correction" kit for Hasegawa devoid the rivets that are there in real life. While looking at period F104 photos they are hard to see, they are definitely there if you see them in real life. Same goes for the rear near near the engine, the Kinetic kit is devoid of rivets in this area, again having studied the F104 upclose, there are indeed rivets here as well. So it's up to you the modeler, are these rivets in exact pattern as shown on the Hasegawa kit, no, but it would be incorrect to say there are no rivets in those locations at all. But don't take my word for it, go out to museums, find the nearest F104 near you and take a look in person
@TV-ez4md25 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You are right, there are flush rivets on the wings and fuselage. I have seen Starfighter in real life. Normally rivets can't be seen if the plane is clean, but if there is some dirt those can be seen more easily. And I don't mind either way, as I build both as they are.

@TV-ez4md2 ай бұрын
In my opinion it is good for beginner as it goes together very nicely. And if something doesn't fit it you are doing something wrong. I think you should make the subject you like rather than any particular kit, but for F-2 this should be your choise.

Tamiya kits are really great, but most now are very old mouldings now, up to 40+ years old for most of the 1/72 1/48 air ranges the other brands are superior in the 2020's showing much more details and crispness of moulded detail over the circa 1980's mould tech of the entry level Tamiya ranges .
@TV-ez4md3 ай бұрын
Yes, you have to carefully pick as the subject matters, not just categorically buy just Tamiya of for example Eduard. But both of these are "new" Tamiya from 2019 and Eduard from 2022 of how do you calculate it.. And both look really good as you can see

@alessiodecarolis3 ай бұрын
Both are beautiful kits, naturally it depends from some factors, such as availability, price (very important for a lot of people!), and logically knowing your limits, Tamiya's one is for the average modeler, Eduard's for the more expert. And about rivets, don't forget that in this scale, teorically, they should be pratically invisible. The only complaint could be about the lack of pilots' figures, also if could be used the Preiser's box for dioramas.
@TV-ez4md3 ай бұрын
Yes, I agree availability and price are really important things of course. But (if) there will be cheaper and more expensive option from Eduard than Tamiya I hope you could decide which you get after watching my video :)

Thank You👍 Nice comparison. It looks to me, as if Eduard has looked at the beautiful Tamiya kit, and thought? how can we improve it even more. Lets improve sharpnes, give it a even more smooth surface, and add some nice riveting and then treat it with the whole Eduard aftermarket package. I have both kits, and like the Tamiya for its easy and nice build which provides a very nice result. But i am sure the Eduard kit, with care, skills, and finesse will improve the final result into a small Master piece👌For the average modeler ,the Tamiya kit will provide a good result no doubt, where Eduard demands more skills and care to achieve the same, but the potential are far greater.
